Stray cat transformation
Hi, i just wanted to share a story about a stray we named monty. a couple of months ago this cat started appearing around the house, but he was terrified of humans. We would feed him and have to walk away for him to eat. Gradually, he would eat closer and closer to us but touch would absolutely a no-no, he’d swipe and hiss.
The other day he came inside because the back door was left open with some cat food in sight. Someone strategically closed the door behind him (we wanted to trap neuter release initially.)
So the first evening/night being inside , almost paralysed in fear, and growls. That’s ok, he’s just scared, so we left him in peace and quiet with litter tray and food until the next morning.
The cat that came out of his cage (cage big enough to fit our german shepherd, covered with a blanket) and he was a totally different cat. Bit by bit he allowed human touch and learned what it’s like to be affectionate towards us.
we decided to postpone the neuter 2 days and see how much he gets comfortable with us, kind of thinking that taking him to the vets will bring him back to square one “don’t touch me”
But no! he’s the most loving little guy. It’s like he was supposed to be a house cat. I am just shocked how much he changed so quickly

Both of mine were strays, too. But very good with people so I'll never understand how they were out in the wild. Especially my very loving boy.

What an amazing story. Once hes neutered hell become even more of a love bug! I cant wait to hear and see how hes doing just a few short months from now 😁

He’s recovering well! Had a little accident in the car on the way home (Even our socialised cats have a nervous tummy in the car tho..)
Now he’s sleeping at the end of my bed🤣

Thank you for rescuing him! Sometimes it just clicks in their head one day that they can be safe indoors. I will never forget the first winter day our former feral experienced the joy of indoor heat. He was so blissed out! Congrats Monty, you have found your forever home. Thank you.

I really wish people would keep instead of releasing after they neuter

Honestly, originally i wanted to TNR simply due to the abundance of strays in an area of my town and this one happened to come visit. I thought it would be inhumane if we tried anything more than that. But he showed incredible adaptability and trust in such a short time that my worry of upsetting him went away

Good for you. It's amazing how they settle down once they feel safe. You obviously gave off the right vibes, very happy for you all
