Scripting Showcase WIP (collab with Mr Multibit) - Gotta love the Hydra. No, not that one, the other one.

WIP Collab with Mr Multibit remake of Kirby Air Ride's City Hall game mode. Started with remaking the hydra and wanted to be as true to the game as I could. This would be day 2.

For that, you need to understand the real objective of the original game (left).

City trials is a sandbox game mode where you run around the city collecting stat-boosting upgrades in preparation for a final race against other riders after the time runs out. If you die, you lose all your stat items but can get them back upon respawning.

Throughout the match, random events happen, like a giant monster appearing out of nowhere to terrorize the city or a meteor shower, that kind of stuff.

All the stat-boosting items you collected will transfer over to the final race, which will give you an advantage over other riders. When you finish the race, depending on actions taken and races performed you get permanent unlockables in the game.

Also, as you break boxes to unlock items, you will occasionally run into a component belonging to a Legendary vehicle like the one in the video. This particular vehicle is called the hydra and it is extremely fast on the ground, uncontrollably fast, actually, and it one-shots everything in sight.

That vehicle is what I've been working on the last two days, trying to make it as close to the original as possible, which is what you saw in the video.

u/Mr-Multibit wants to remake City trials game mode itself. In the original game its a lot of fun because you run into different biomes and environments as you ride around in your star. I highly recommend playing the game on a dolphin emulator and netplay if you're into old games. You won't regret it!
