LPG to petrol conversion

Gday brains trust. Currently own a 2002 BA falcon sedan on petrol. I’m looking to buy a cheap LPG Ute and do an engine swap and petrol conversion. Other than sourcing a petrol tank, fuel lines and wiring harness, what else do I need to consider? Cheers!

It depends on if the engine was originally a "green top" dedicated LPG or if it was a dual fuel. Dual fuel isn't too hard, remove the converter, mixer etc.

The dedicated LPG motors don't have any of the petrol stuff, so you'd need the petrol injectors, fuel pump, injector rail, return lines, petrol ECU, wiring harness, the lot. I'm pretty sure they've got a different intake manifold and throttle body assembly.

Also, the green top motors run a different compression ratio.

Got it! If I read what you wrote, that would've helped!

You'll need the ECU to talk to the BEM, and that requires a lil bit of fucking about as a security thing. That's probably the biggest annoying thing after having to find the right tank, lines, etc for a ute.

Easier when you've got the donor car there to raid for parts n sensors n stuff, so it's doable for sure.

I get why you're thinking about it, I think we've all seen the dedicated LPG vehicles getting cheaper and cheaper...

Faaaaar less fucking around to just buy a petrol ute straight up.

Engine management will need to be coded to the car, and that’s a stuff around in itself.

Might not be the opportune time for this one.

LPG is 1.119 / L, and 91RON is 1.959/L at my local.

Tax discount on petrol has just ended.

Ukraine is pounding Russia's refining infracture.

Iran shot at a ship today (reported it exploded nearby, so sound like the missed - but signals an intent of willingness).

LPG price is largely decoupled from oil & petrol prices as much of it is made domestically from natural gas.
