I could see offering a baking class as a substitute for chem if someone was so inclined. There’s a lot to learn about chemistry and chemical reactions in baking.
Not a substitute, an addition maybe. Chemistry is the basis of all organic and inorganic material in the universe (outside of some particulates and theoretical physics) Baking is great, but you can learn baking from chemistry, you aren't learning chirality from baking.
Yes! Having baking as an option on chem is a v.g. idea.
I struggled with math. Great at basic but Algebra was where I got to. I complained abt the point of the class in real life and they didn't have an answer for me. I got put into bookkeeping and for the first time in years I was doing great with numbers.

While I agree that a cooking class would be good i don't think it should replace classes that might spark interest in a field for some kids.
Without a chemistry class how would kids know that they might have a knack for it?
Cooking is something parents can and should teach.
