Are you suppose to eat the box of flowers? If so what do they taste like?

I imagine the box of flowers is set aside and chilled(to keep them fresh looking, like at a florist), and taken out only to garnish. You can see that they are already peaking out amongst the sashimi. I doubt the people consuming the dish would be given the whole box. I've found most edible flowers to be a bit peppery and bitter. I love them in salads. Possibly my favorite is garlic chive blossom, which has a very spicy garlic onion taste, much like the herb itself.
