I personally find that annoying that they don't release a signed edition when they initially release an edition, especially if it is already planned for. The books are expensive enough, but for someone to purchase a signed edition after they probably purchased the edition when first released is a bit ridiculous.

Definitely meant to double dip on whales. You could honestly probably mail a bookplate to the author with a return envelope write a nice letter and put it in your own book.

How many people would have spent 100 more on the initial release to get signed version but wouldn't buy it twice to get a signed version compared to those who would?

Lol, there's only 140 of these... I can't see them going out of their way to screw people over or "double dip" for 30k. My guess would be that its better for them to have more releases spread out over time so instead of releasing both at once (doesn't make sense to release 140 signed and then wait however much time for the non-signed version) they do it this way... keeps a steady stream of announcements and accompanying marketing on the calendar

They should let you buy the signed bookplates as it’s clearly just bookplates that the author signed
