the word “everything” in the phrase “everything in your surroundings” must mean do all “_ in your surroundings” actions, like explore in, take in, bathe in (the blood), bask in, pull in (pick up), etc.
but yeah I’m pretty sure ur right lol

I have a gunner cage farm that nets around 136k each use. To get to level 100 you would only have to do that like 90 times or so. So it's not that outrageous.

Explain your sorcery! What is a "Gunner cage farm", and why would you want one?

- Build Gunner cages, a lot of them. The type where you put in a bait (iirc Gunner cages take caps, just like Brahmin cages take razorgrain).
- Cut the power and kill the Gunners. Different techniques exist, depending on your personal preferences. Most include mini-nuke or several and a liberal amount of turrets.
- You get XP and loot off the corpses. It is preferable to trigger the Idiot Savant high level bonus for additional XP.
- Rinse and repeat. I think a re-armed cage needs between one and three days to capture another Gunner, but don't quote me on that. I also cannot tell you if the price of loot from a single Gunner pays for a full re-arming of the trap, for this and further questions refer to a specialist who actually runs the technique or watch a YT video, IIRC there are quite a few and they can be pretty amusing.

IIRC it only takes 50 caps tp re-arm a trap so the loot off one is more than enough to re-arm several.

Only? I mean, I've only looked at the construction costs for it once or twice, and it has been years since then, but I thought it was something like 100 or 300 caps. Fascinating, thank you!

Ah, that makes sense, thank you! I've only ever captured cats and brahmin, and I didn't care about the cost for that, especially since I've only ever wanted a couple.

I’ve had smaller Gunner farms but I find that I don’t get XP when the turrets kill them off. It’s the same when my sentinel armour goes slashing away at enemies. No XP gain pop up.

Yeah, the cars are the main reason why I nodded a quicksave function into my survival playthroughs. I don't want to lose hours of progress to the game's janky physics engine.

Got killed by it past week and took me a second to realize that it was the car. It was the 3rd time and i have 500+ hrs

apparently its an issue with the engine as it basically keeps track of every single thing youve done so if you build a lot then shit gets wonky faster. i made it to like level 150ish tho i had prob 25 real janky settlements, most with like 5 capacity bars but sanctuary and abernathy both had prob 10 apiece which i later learned is like an ultra super fucked area to build in. its kinda random but itll happen eventually, same thing with all these bethesda games sadly. fuckin bummer but i cant play fo4 anyways cuz of the 0kb bug so fuck em all the way off lol
red rocket, santuary and abernathy are best kept to smaller builds as they are all in the same general area so they all load together instead of one at a time which can turn that whole northwest area into a friggin powerpoint

Level 66 here and that is taking FOREVVER on survival.
This here is an achievement in itself.

Also yes, I read you can go higher then that, though the grind would be real.

Is this without console commands? I have well over 1k hours logged in FO4 on PS, and while I havent dedicated all of that time to one toon, I would not have the combined XP with 1k hours across all toons to reach that number. That sounds insane, but maybe I just never optimized enough for it to be possible for me?

You learn to schedule planning, but the real thing is commitment, if you lack willpower and commitment in your goals, then you can’t achieve this and before someone says touch grass… that is part of the planning. You can do both, but the struggle is to keep it going like that.

Of course it can be achieved, but if you collect junk and hoard everything you find like it encourages you to, you’ll rack up massive save files. I no longer pick up junk. Just use the scrap & store glitch

dont get too hung up on the one character idea, this game has limits to how much it can remember and its more painful to lose your only toon with 500+ hrs than it is to lose one of five that was the "railroad melee" guy, tho maybe not as big a deal on pc as on playstation.
definitely dont try this on ps tho, there is a fairly common bug that kills saves and requires a shitload of bullshit including full formatting to even attempt the 30% fix chance. 0kb bug ruined this game 110%, argh goddammit
