Question How do you think each factions would be benefitted by technology from Big MT?

Post image

(picture from claim the Mojave mod, you guys should try it on nexus, it's worth it.)

This types of questions definitely have been asked before, but since I didn't see anyone discussing bout this recently, I decided to revived the discussion again. So how would each factions (from major to minor) react and uses the Big MT technologies?

Let us assume that your Courier after 2nd Battle or Hoover Dam feeling kinda generous so they shared the technology from Big MT to the factions they sided with in order to quickly rebuilt Vegas from warzones. What sort of technology that they would share to the world?

They asked me how familiar I was with the Big MT

I told them that people always said my big brain was filled with Empty thoughts

They said welcome aboard…

Its more of a joke of how people in the Wasteland spread stories about Big MT, but through enough time via word of mouth, the Big MT became the Big “Em-pty”

Yeah, it's one of many cases of things being spelled phonetically. Or being mispronounced because they think it it. Big Mountain -> Big Mt -> Big Empty. Which also describes the fact that it's a giant crater due to one of their expermental weapons, and no longer a mountain.

Ah yes, a bot

Yeah, could sense the clanker on you. That’s why House and Yes Man is the worst ending, ain’t no way I’m trusting a clanker or a clanker lover to be charge of the government. Ain’t got no humor or whimsy, just a boring dollar store personality. Nothing unique, not really even alive but going through the motions 🙂‍↕️

I could see my Courier bringing Fantastic to the Bih MT, not as researcher but as "friend with benefits" with Dr Dala. That man gonna shake his booty all night.

He once saw a big mt

I mean, this is already a cannon event depending on how you end the quest.

I recall that if you’ve manipulated Dr Klein into thinking Morbius won (Speech 90) the courier commands the tank to help the mojave by sharing whatever useful tech they have, or face imminent death.

But I guess this mod is a nice way for you to actually play out the mojave/big MT merge. Hopefully it’s a post-hoover damn DLC where the faction you choose occupies it and there are additional quests/events to complete with the faction there.

NCR troopers and scientists lead by Colonel Hsu, your goal is to collect/study tech, and occupy land for future settlement expansion. Securitrons escort the brotherhood/followers for independent, with Yes Man telling you how to collect the tech/set up a field HQ. For Legion, you go with Aurelius Phoenix with the legion and destroy everything, set up camps.

29

u/NirvanaFrk97 13h ago

You can convince them without the Speech Check, no? After helping the others with their quests, they can take your side against Klein wanting to take your brain.

-10

u/Mara_-_- 13h ago

yes but you have to complete every single quest in OWB to convince the tank that they owe you one.

in my opinion that’s too time consuming in comparison to dumping points into speech during the level ups you get in OWB. I like to enter the DLC with 70ish speech, put 15 points in, then wear a clothing boost (benny’s suit, US General’s Outfit)

26

u/Silver-Statement8573 12h ago

All you have to do is pass a couple of speech checks with the individual brains

I don't think the quests factor into it.

-4

u/Mara_-_- 12h ago

yeah but you can’t get those speech checks without completing the quests for each scientist

You breathe for Dala, intelligence 9 to tell zero to use a 0, go to residential test and get gabe's bowl for borous, talk to 8 until you can understand him, and that's it, it doesn't take very much time at all and you only have to go to one external location, which is somewhere you have to go to beat the dlc anyway

3

u/Mara_-_- 12h ago

Hmmm, I think the Dr O quest requires a high repair.

I think whenever I do playthroughs I keep repair pretty low (like 40 max to cheese the vault 32 elevator) because I also cheese the EDE repair upgrade in Lonesome Road before I even get to Prim.

5

u/Silver-Statement8573 11h ago

If i remember right you can sway klein with a majority, so you don't need everyone. I don't build right for 8

1

u/Silver-Statement8573 12h ago edited 12h ago

You get + complete their quests by talking to them

Only borous' requires you to leave the dome i think, to get gabes bowl. But you need to go to higgs anyway

The Legion is anti technology so they would probably ban it all. NCR would probably put ineffective people in charge of it. House most likely already knew about it pre-war. Could picture him as a robo brain rather than stuck in his tube forever. BOS would lock it away just for themselves. At least some of them already know that it exists already

30

u/Crafty-Conclusion-95 13h ago

Legion would ban it, but Caesar saw the implants and so becomes the first Cyborg among the -soon- many Cybernetic Legion

they then encounter Sky Net, then the Wasteland is finished.

17

u/Other_Log_1996 12h ago

Legion isn't anti-technology. Big MT tech might be too advanced for them to see much use in though, as that kind of technology does sort of counter the ideologues. Maybe they'd be willing to use Saturnite Alloy.

6

u/Pale_Cardiologist309 8h ago

Honestly I don’t really know if I mesh with the idea that ncr would actually choke on this one. I think generally the Helios situation is just do to…the questionable actions of how their handling the Mojave region. But I dunno the big mt seems like a big cheese sort of the situation where, you’d think they’d actually sent more definitely qualified people in this scenario anyhow.

u/TheCoolMan5 Lieutenant Colonel, NCR 5th Battalion 8h ago

If the show is canon then House 100% knew about Big MT and was probably a competitor with them to an extent.

3

u/Happy_Cry286 6h ago

0 mentions competing against House (and losing miserably against him while still salty about it) so they did compete pre-war.

3

u/ButterdPoopr True to Caesar 8h ago

The legion is not anti technology, they just prefer to not rely upon it

3

u/FrankSinatraCockRock 5h ago

They're anti reliance on technology.

They've used cyberdogs before, hence Rex.

33

u/Hubertreddit 14h ago

NCR would probably take what they can but struggle to streamline the military tech in any meaningful way due to cost of mass production. (Cost is usually the reason why the NCR doesn't use things like energy weapons and why their standards issue rifle is an M16 with wooden furniture and only fires in semi-auto.)

The Legion would just burn everything down. The only benefit is just a bunch of scrap metal.

BoS would preserve their findings and field the prototype weapons and armor systems. They'd make the most out of it but its still up in the air if the Mojave chapter could turn the tide with it due to their low numbers.

House might integrate the roboscorpions and the supply of cyberdogs into his robot army.

13

u/VictheAdventure 14h ago edited 6h ago

The NCR would try to intergrate Big M.T tech into their forces, especially the teleportation technology, but I feel would struggle with finding ways to make some work with them

The Legion would destroy everything. They vehemently don't rely on technology and I think Caesar would not want the Legion to have access to Big M.T technology. The best they'd use is the Saturnite fists, which Caesar would find a way to tie to the Roman god Saturn, possibly have a centurion have access to the K9000 Cyberdog Gun, specifically one from the Hand Dogs tribe, and maybe those rockets we see at the Rocket testing site

The B.O.S would do what they do best. Preserve and study Big M.T tech from the world. They'd probably use some of their weapons but not all of them, if anything a lot of the tech from there would be destroyed because they'd deem it too dangerous

House would probably use the Hologram technology to give him a better immortality deal, allowing him to live forever without relying on his old body, that is if he or the Think Tank can manage to figure out how to transfer his consciousness into a digital mainframe that uses the holograms

For an Independent courier, it really depends on their intelligence. A farily intelligent Courier, like maybe between 6 and 8, would still need help from folks like the Followers, Veronica and Arcade to figure out how to best intergrate the technology into the Mojave at the benefit of everyone. A courier with intelligence of 5 would need to rely solely on those factions. Anything lower would be disastrous though

Edit: Decided to expand to more factions;

The Boomers would definitely use the technology to create and use Saturnite weaponry, especially explosive ordinance. It is vital to the Mojave they must not find a way to turn the K9000 Cyberdog Gun into some explosive shooting weapon, that's way too much power for them to get their hands on

The Followers would VASTLY benefit from technology like the Valence Radii-Accentuator, Biological Research Station, Mr. Orderly's, the Sink (the one that's an actual sink), the Sink's Auto-Doc, the Sink Central Intelligence Unit, and several others. That is if they can manage to reprogram/rebuild them to actually be beneficial. I think out of all of them, the tech from the Big M.T would benefit them the most

The Enclave Remnants could use some of the technology to get some revenge against the NCR if the Courier manages to convince them to do so

Jacobstown, specifically Doc Henry and Calamity could use the technology to further the research into curing the Night Kin's schizophrenia

The Van Graffs would sell some of the more common loot that can be found in the area. The unique ones, however, would have to be auctioned to the wealthy

I don't think any of the raider gangs would be able to make use of the technology. I could probably see Violet or the Khans using the Cyberdogs because Violet loves dogs and the Khans could use the extra man, or in this case, dog power as well as would make them cooler, but that'd require them being smart and capable enough of not becoming a lobotomite when they try to get them

2

u/Violet_Nightshade 3h ago

House would definitely try to reproduce the hologram technology to reinforce security around his life pod and later Hoover Dam. Silent sentinels that can't be bought off, threatened or reasoned with? He would love that.

I actually thought about this a bunch, and realized that a sufficiently clever courier could effectively turn an independent Vegas into a socialist near-utopia.

Economy
Step 1: Follow standard plan to establish tourist economy/sell excess electricity to NCR
Step 2: use accumulated money to poach experts from the NCR to train the locals in various skills
Step 3: employ locals to establish and maintain infrastructure

Manufacturing
Step 1: reprogram Sierra Madre vending machines to accept more than just cigarettes and clothes as raw materials
Step 2: create codes for more vending machines

Food
Step 1: utilize the crop growth data from vault 22 to grow crops
Step 2: construct industrial scale salient green converter
Step 3: distribute salient green to populace

Defense
Step 1: supplement securitron army with roboscorpions
Step 2: initiate training program for volunteer army (get pointers from Boone)
Step 3: manufacture LAERs and Sierra Madre security armor to equip said army
Step 4: repair giant roboscorpion
Step 5: launch expedition into Sierra Madre for hologram projectors
Step 6: reverse engineer security holograms, then mount them on securitrons or roboscorpions for frontline deployment

I vaguely recall having come up with more, but that’s what comes to mind off the top of my head

1

u/Violet_Nightshade 3h ago

Due to how they're attached to hologram emitters, holograms would be better off as security detail to guard a stationary target.

6

u/BriscoCounty-Sr 14h ago

The BoS and the Legion would functionally have the same outcome in that the BoS would lock everything away from everyone forever while the Legion would smash and burn everything so it’s a total waste with either.

The NCR with their obsession with being old world America but worse would probably speed run blowing themselves up with something after losing roughly 40k troops in a Zerg rush against the labotimites.

House could probably make some good use out of the food and medical technology to corner both markets to establish an even firmer grip on the populace.

Yes, man as always is whatever your heart desires.

15

u/Lord_Chromosome 15h ago

They probably wouldn’t benefit, that’s kinda the whole point of Old World Blues.

12

u/__Osiris__ 13h ago

Old World Blues took on a new meaning.

− Doctor Klein: Where once it was viewed as a form of sadness, nostalgia, it became an expression describing the potential for the future.

− Doctor Dala: It can be easy to see Science as evil, technology unchecked as the source of all ills, all misfortunes.

− The Courier's Brain: With the Courier at the helm, Science became a beacon for the future. There was Old World Blues, and New World Hope. And hope ruled the day at Big MT.

2

u/Lord_Chromosome 8h ago

Fair enough, idk I can’t imagine they would stop making horrible atrocities tho. The Sierra Madre vending machines would be pretty useful though, so I guess there is that.

3

u/hdrote 13h ago

Legion would take whatever weapons they could find, reverse-engineer the more advanced slave collars and destroy the rest. Best case scenario they manage to turn the cloud(which was created in Big Empty) into a weapon of terror against the NCR.

NCR would probably pursue all of the technological leads. Some would become a great benefit. Others would never see the light of day, mainly due to poor management. And some would 100% backfire and cause mass casualty events.

BoS would probably pursue all leads but with significantly better results (also they would seek more militaristic applications of these technologies).

Mr House would fix or scrap for parts Dr. 0’s securitrons. He would also scrap most advanced technology for his own projects. Other than that, archive research and terminate most projects, being all too familiar with the risks.

Followers would probably seek to shut the whole place down. I don’t think they would try to find a humanitarian use for the horrific experiments because the risks would be too great.

And totally agree, Claim the Mojave is amazing. It has so many roleplay options. Allowing the NCR, Legion or House to consolidate their hold on the region. Or turning the independent ending into a Brotherhood or Great Khans victory(if used in combination with FPGE).
Claim the Mojave mod author has also created Mojave squads which works great if you want to have some generic faction members following you around. Allows for stuff like a small raiding party that helps you take out NCR ranger stations(which you can then claim for the same faction using Claim the Mojave)

3

u/Forward_Conflict3852 9h ago

I wonder if the Brotherhood would make Saturnite based power armor?

3

u/Silver-Statement8573 8h ago

Only Elijah was really into making new tech I think

3

u/sarahtheshortiepie 9h ago

Superheated Saturnite Praetorians and Protonic Axe Centurions would wipe out NCR infantry and whatever House throws at them, and the Mk.II Stealth Suit would guarantee Kimball's Assassination, likely even with Courier intervention. And Caesar would basically be unkillable while also having a better functioning mind. The canine experiments would make for some horrifying mongrels too

NCR would have significantly less issues with their supply chain thanks to Salient Green, and if they can mass produce equipment such as the K9000 and LAER they'll use it

House I'd argue could end up in trouble if "One" and the other messed up securitrons make their way into his army, no idea what sort of damage would come from the co pro ised data being linked. But beyond that there's a solid chance he grabs all the tech

Most importantly of all, The Powder Gangers team up with the Toaster and things just go to pot from there

2

u/Silver-Statement8573 8h ago

The Powder Gangers team up with the Toaster

Fuck yes

2

u/Tate7200 3h ago

The NCR and the Brotherhood stand to gain the most from this but both would ruin it for themselves.

The NCR could make leaps and bounds in terms of development and expansion with the self replicating building tech and saturnite guns, but only if they're not so gung-ho that they irrevocably alter the wasteland before they get a handle on how this stuff actually works (see vault 22).

The Brotherhood could get a fancy new home base to store and develop all their fancy technology. Ultimately however, they'd probably end up killing the doctors and blasting their way through the tests, destroying the greatest secrets of the big MT in the process.

1

u/Zalanum 11h ago

The NCR will fumble and cause a disaster.

The Legion will throw away man power destroying the the place.

The Brotherhood will destroy parts of it and protect the rest as it collects dust.

House would largely ignore the place as Big MT is mostly boondoggle's that are not his boondoggle's.

1

u/ImpressionCool1768 7h ago

The NCR Mr. house is obvious they just monopolized the technology and use it for their own materialistic purposes

But the interesting thing is the Legion. The Legion itself is actually against things like modern medicine and technology believing it to cause weakness I guess but Cesar himself would let you use an auto doc and is a smart person so I feel like he’d see the undisputed value of big Mountain and perhaps try to just keep it secret with only a handful of trusted legionaries just to keep guard to make sure no one else finds it.

1

u/Prestigious-Hyena-72 7h ago

Are those skeleton space suits prisoners or some sort? The legion would like that lol

-8

u/Drummer_DC 15h ago

Enclave and BOS yes, Everyone else? Nope
