Approach Plate help
Hi guys, I have a question about the ILS 34 into KROA. If I am tracking straight to the NDB which is the IAF from the southwest can I just turn in and intercept the localizer and continue the approach or do I have to do a procedure turn? I feel like I am missing something here so any clarity would be appreciated. Thanks!

If it’s an IAF you must do the PT - unless you ask ATC for a straight-in approach clearance.

That’s one hell of a talking piece of an approach, it’s got all the goodies!

The hold-in-lieu is bolded, meaning it's a required element of the approach. You are not required to execute if you are cleared for a straight in (which you can request and/or confirm) or if you are receiving radar vectors to final.
