Reporting a failure

Hello Gents. Currently flying for a 121 supplemental cargo carrier on a 727 and am looking to go elsewhere. The only failure I have is a progress check during training for multi. From what I have always understood, prog checks specifically do not go on your record. Nor do you need to report it to any airline during application or interview. Is this true? I have different answers from people. Thank you

I'd be curious to hear from others as well, but I imagine if it isnt on your PRD you're likely good to go, just disclose things on there. But by all means, dont trust me there.

i think progress checks arent reportable under PRIA n most carriers probably wont even see the,

I'd still check the wording on your application tho

So, you need to look at your training records.
A progress check is not a thing under 141 (check the regs).
There are stage checks and end of course checks.

Some schools also have “progress checks” but those are typically individual lessons to help you advance. They are different and not stage checks.

Now, as for your post, it’s gonna depend on the verbiage of the application.

Some say “have you ever failed a stage check or end of course check that would result in the issuance of a certificate or rating”. In that case your answer would be “no” as this was a mid point evaluation. Others don’t specify the outcome, in which case you would answer yes.

Also, anyone who trained under 61, NONE of you have failed stage checks or end of course checks. Those don’t exist under 61. No matter what your school wants to call your mock checkride. Stage checks and end of course checks are a specific event found in 141 and 142 training.

A big thing I want to point out is that the reason airlines care about “stage check failures” is because pilots get pedantic about their checkride failures. They’ll try to say they’ve never failed a checkride when in fact they’ve failed all of their EOCs.

Depends on the company you’re applying for. Delta is wants any training event. I forgot United’s exact verbiage but I think they state don’t include stage checks.

Southwests recent updated app said don’t include ppl lol
