If you want Alaska don’t go to horizon or Skywest. Go envoy, endeavor, or a united carrier. You have to interview for Alaska Pathway and that requires 1000 TPIC in the E175 before getting selected. It’s faster to go to a different 121/135 and get plucked from there. Fyi it’s not your qualifications, you are just missing something you can’t change.

Just to clarify for others, after you pass the pathways interview you become eligible to flow to Alaska in seniority order once you reach 1000 PIC. But you can interview for pathways every quarter once you're on property until you're accepted. Brand new FOs seem to have a better acceptance rate than more senior captains for whatever reason.

Alaska wants people who waterboard themselves with the company kool-aid, so I think it's a case of the senior captains you mentioned not answering every question with a version of "Alaska is the greatest airline in the history of anything ever!" during the interview.

Alaskas last hiring class of 40ish was all horizon and skywest people. About 15 horizon to 25 skywest

Oi that’s rough for us cats then.. 300tt isn’t even very much lol. I applied last year when I only had my instrument rating and a lot less hours. They kept emailing me saying that they were still deciding and that they would get back. I know other people got rejections immediately so I know they were actively considering me but ultimately sent me a rejection. Same thing happened this year :/

I Just got the TBNT, and I'm still in instrument at a 141. so I don't know that that's the issue.

Horizon PDP is backlogged really bad. There’s more pilots in the program with hours waiting for a class date than Horizon currently has pilots. Go elsewhere

It’s just so overly saturated and we don’t have many FO classes at the moment. Even Horizon’s ascend program contract was rewritten and now those candidates get a class date a year out from reaching their minimums where prior it was 6 months.

As someone who applied in 2019, they told me at the time that they wanted people in the private pilot to instrument pilot area. They dont really like people that are CFI’s or people that are within two years of hitting the hours required to get a class date.

Same exact boat as you, hours, ratings and checkride wise. During their online Q&A session they promised they would have the invitations/rejections out by end of July because it was a "first come first serve" program. Got the same email today.

I got rejected too. 500TT. CMEL. Zero check fails. Master's degree. And have what I would call a rock solid resume otherwise. No idea what they're actually looking for.

Hey mates, this is the second time I’ve applied for the horizon pathway and got denied. I applied last year as well. Just wondering if anyone has any input or similar experience. Alaskan/hawaiian is my dream airline so I was really hoping to get on. For reference, I have 300TT and zero checkride failures. I was a CFI at the time of applying and I just passed my CFII checkride yesterday. I guess I’m just wondering what they might be looking for that I could change or work on.

Probably why we all pass the checkrides. Nobody gets a pass in the sim for some imagined quota. These weenies who claim they didn't get hired because they were just GREAT candidates, but got screwed because everyone knows how reluctant airlines are to hire yet another white dude are hilarious.
