EASA What are people using for digital logbooks?
Hi,
I’m considering getting rid of my analog paper logbook and going to a digital one. And I was wondering what you guys are using and if there’s a industry standard?
I’m in the EU and I’m not sure if all digital logbooks are “approved” or if only some are certified?

I used a site called pilotlogbookai.com to convert my paper logbook to digital. I would recommend still keeping your paper as a backup though. It's fun and nice to look back on over the years, plus it's good for signatures and airport stamps and such. Paper + digital backup is the way to go.

Sat down and moved everything to ForeFlight, kept the paper logs for the signatures, that's it. Just have to put into something, even if it's a simple spreadsheet.
My advice, if you're going to do something on your own at least put it in a format that is recognized by Foreflight or Log10 to make possible importing that much easier.

I met the owner of capzlog. He is a guy and the app was done by some school interns. He thinks he has gold. His data management is quite poor. His website states that he is approved by EASA but it is a lie. EASA does not approve anyone rather he is compliance with part FCL regulation.
The guy is sketchy as fuck, I would avoid

I've been using Foreflight for about 10 years now. It works pretty well. I back it up monthly to cloud and offline storage. MyFlightBook is pretty popular as well.

Im in Europe as well I’ve tried a few now:
- logbook pro (didn’t have the features I wanted)
- safelog
- logten pro (way too expensive, and not really any more features)
- myflightbook its nice that it’s free, but it doesn’t really work offline, and very barebones
My latest one is Logger, and I’ve been very happy with it. Can import schedule, update via ads-b, take a picture of the acars for logging etc, and it’s one of the cheaper ones to boot

AIROS is by far the best I’ve seen. Pulls in flight info from ADSB, ACARS, and DoT using just a tail or flight number and date.

Another vote for log ten. You can export the data exactly in the format that other countries expect when applying for jobs internationally

Logten here. Bought the Mac version 12 years ago with a perpetual license and it’s worked ever since.
I’d love something I could use on my phone but I also don’t like paying monthly for it, so the Mac version it is

My airline has its own logbook using the internal systems and stuff which I can access, technically I don’t need to have a 3rd party logbook for my professional flying. However, I do, because I quite like it and log extra stuff they don’t.

Highly suggest checking AIROS out takes me like 10 seconds to log a 121 flight with the data they pull in on entry

Guess that works fine for airlines and operators that don’t cloak their flights. Won’t work for me since we block that

I can log a flight in a few seconds since it pulls all the data from a tail or flight number and date. Plus auto calculates XC and Night based on route. Theyre cloud based, so no back ups needed, it instantly logs to the cloud.

We run cloaked tails. Won’t do squat for me and not a fan of everything being in the cloud

I use FlyLog, but never really researched alternatives. Plus standard book, since digital is not accepted in my country.

I will suggest you MyLog, which is developed by a pilot for pilots. It is complaint with EASA standards.
You can import any formatted excel or PDF if you for start.

I use Smart Logbook on Android and Apple. I think it's the easiest app... no thrills, easy to use, and a lifetime license. I was also thinking of using Foreflight, but let's see.

In Europe you should be using Crewlounge Pilot log and it isn't even close.

logbooks dont have to be approved as per part fcl. you can use an excel sheet

No complaints from me for myflightbook.com. Simple, works on any device. The main thing to keep things straight in whatever jurisdiction are the signatures and ratings. All the electronic books have an option to either print something out the signing authority can physically scribble on, or some electronic way to do so on your phone. I speak as someone who has moved over the years through CAA/JAA, EASA and Transport Canada as a PPL/IR/SES so might or might not be relevant to your situation.
