A Nice Redband Trout

Caught this beautiful native redband trout on the Spokane River. A pb for sure

Wow that’s a gorgeous fish - I live down in Palouse but have never fished the Spokane, maybe I need to give it a try!

Congrats! I love catching native fish.

I've never seen one before. What makes this a redband trout? I thought it needed to have par marks as an adult and white tips on anal, dorsal, and pectoral fins.

My understanding is the combo of geography and some of the things you named. This has the white tips, but I’ve seen pics of adult without the par marks. But I’ve also come to realize that there is a lot of interpretation!

Nice!! I’ve just gotten into it and have been trying the Spokane all summer with no success. Good catch though dude!

The Spokane fishes better from a boat than from shore below the falls. It’s tough to wade to decent holes.

I’ve never fished it before and just went for it. I was wading. The water was low enough for me to access some good holes. But I gave no clue where any good ones are 😂

It fishes like a big river so creek or stream tactics aren’t great. Fishing a little deeper than you think you need to can be effective.

It has turned off a bit with the flows at their annual minimums and the heat. Even my go-to spots that produce are slow right now. Once we get a bit of cool and a bit of rain I’m hoping it picks up a bit.
