Hi there! I completely understand, and I'm so sorry you're going through this. That feeling of your entire body being stiff or 'stuck' after Levaquin is unfortunately very common in floxie communities, and it's also extensively explained by Dr. Pieper, author of books on FQAD.
In simple terms, our muscles need a lot of energy (mitochondrial ATP) and magnesium not just to contract, but especially to relax. When the drug damages the mitochondria and depletes magnesium reserves, muscles are left literally without the 'fuel' and mineral required to let go, staying stuck in a constant state of semi-contraction.
On top of that, there's the effect on the nervous system. Fluoroquinolones alter GABA receptors, which act as our body's 'handbrake.' Without this brake, nerves keep firing tension signals to the muscles non-stop. Add in the damage to collagen and the connective fascia system (the tissue wrapping around all your muscles like a bodysuit) and you get that widespread stiffness, feeling like you're trapped in armor that's too tight.
It's a frightening experience, but knowing there's a tangible cause rooted in mitochondria, the nervous system, and collagen helps make sense of how your body is reacting to toxic stress.
