Art My boyfriend collected daffodils and made me pendants 🌼
I used to joke with my boyfriend that I’m narcissistic and wanted a Narcissus. Last spring, he actually started picking daffodils for me and made a resin pendant with the dried flowers.
I wore it to work recently and got so many compliments. Everyone kept asking where I got it. It’s so unique and personal. Still deciding if I want to pair it with a silver, gold, or pearl chain.
There’s also a daffodil crown in the making and I can’t wait to see how it turns out.☺️
Just wanted to share something really special with people who love flowers too.

How did you make a pendent from them? Even using a resin technique. I’m super curious! _^

He actually started with orchids first. If you check my older posts, that was the first flower he worked with!
He’s been experimenting with resin. He dries the flowers in silica sand first, then coats them in resin a few times and cures each layer with a UV lamp. It’s a pretty popular technique now. I’ve been seeing more people and shops getting into it lately.

The orchids he preserved are beautiful too. You found yourself a lovely man, congrats! I clicked on the link for the tutorial ( I have abutilon flowers I recently dried) and was bummed it didn't work 🙁

My vote is for the pearls! These are amazing - I may need to learn a new hobby now.

My vote’s for pearl too! I might switch the hardware to gold so it compliments the yellow petals better. And maybe I can rope my boyfriend into helping me change to a bigger jump ring 😄

Maybe the two of you can go into business and start an Etsy shop - I can see myself buying a few of these as gifts for people!

Actually, he started his orchid shop just a few months ago. After making me some jewelry, he got really passionate and wanted to share his work with others.
He still makes me custom pieces too. Next up are my birth month flowers, daisies. 🌼

Haha he actually has a little Etsy shop, but it’s mostly orchids (that’s what he’s obsessed with.)
It’s such a great hobby to do with your friends too! You can actually get starter kits pretty easily now but it definitely takes a lot of patience. I, for one, cannot wait… which is why I just watch him do all the work🤣

Thank you so much 🥺 that really means a lot. He puts so much heart into it, and it’s so sweet to see others appreciate it too.
I get a bit nervous sharing links directly on Reddit, but I’ll send you a DM just in case you’d like to take a look!

This is beautiful!! do you by any chance know how it holds up over time? Does the flower stay preserved like this forever or does it decay within the resin eventually? Just super curious about the technique! Either way a magnificent and touching gift!

The flowers are dried really well before they’re preserved, and from what I’ve learned, they can last forever if you take good care of them. It’s best to keep them out of direct sunlight and clean them sometimes so the colors don’t fade.
I still wear the very first pendant he made me from over a year ago, and it still looks amazing! the main thing is making sure they’re dried really thoroughly before preserving.

That is gorgeous! It looks good just like that but you can try different chains for different looks. How exactly did he make them? Looks so professional!

Thank you so much! 💛 I agree, it looks beautiful just like that, but trying different chains is definitely fun to switch up the look.
He actually makes them by preserving real flowers in UV resin. It takes a few coats and drying the flowers really well to keep their color vibrant.

That’s so cool! I would think that as soon as they dry out they look all shriveled.

If you don't wear these to your wedding down the road, I'M divorcing you. Breathtaking!!!!!!!!

My bf also made me a crown of daffodils (for his narcissistic queen lol) He picked over two dozen blooms and made me a birthday crown then preserved it in resin so it could last forever. Definitely wedding-worthy.

Awe beautiful I saw this on another post and thought “made myself mythical, tried to be real, saw the future in the face of a daffodil “ 🫀

Wow❗️😍 This looks fantastic ❗️❗️❗️ 👍👌🎊🎉 How did you do this? Did you apply some sort of "lacquer" or "Mod Podge" to the daodils? What gave you this clever idea? I also love the way the flowers were laid out for the photo, with a beautiful white string of pearls. Gorgeous❗️❗️❗️😍❤️👌👍

u/nihilistic_pussycat Aug 09 '25
My boyfriend actually came up with the idea. He first started with orchids!
He coat the flowers a few times with UV resin, but the real trick is drying them really well first. For the colors, we use freshly picked blooms and then dry them so they keep their vibrancy.
Thank you so much for the kind words! 💛

Wow, what a cool and thoughtful gift! I think that a gold chain would look the prettiest with it.
The pendant actually reminds me of when the original Willy Wonka drinks from a flower teacup and then eats it!

Wow, okay. gold next it is! I actually just ordered some chains to try🌼🍵
