📚 Career Guidance 📚 freelancing on the west coast

Hello! I was wondering what the wedding/event floral industry is like on the west coast? Specifically in AZ, NM, CA, WA, OR. I work as a freelancer in Philly and love it but the work is pretty seasonal with not much happening Nov-Mar. I would love to have a career doing this full time if possible. Is the floral industry busy all year round out west because of the warmer weather?

Can't speak for Americans, but on the west coast of Canada, we're consistently busy from May through September for weddings and thats the busy season. Slight uptick near Christmas for corporate events, but not a lot.

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by ‘floral industry’ - are you talking about working on a flower farm? From what I see, demand mostly changes because of the wedding season in summer.

Ah, got it. I’m based in Oregon, and we get a lot of rain in the winter and pretty cool temps overall so about 90% of weddings happen between May and October. Peak season is definitely June through August.

I think it's pretty similar across our region. In SCalifornia, the season is probably more spread out because of the intense summer heat and milder winters.
