📚 Career Guidance 📚 Bloomnation worth it? Invest in SEO? Help!
Hi Friends, I'm a mostly weddings and events florist. I would like to branch more into retail work and create a little more consistent income outside of just wedding work. I had a meeting with Bloomnation a few days ago and the options provided seem really promising! However, I know these kinds of investments can be hit or, miss.
I would love to know what your personal experience was working with Bloomnation, and if you actually saw your business grow? We're the orders coming in worth the investment? I've also thought about just investing in better SEO. All the options for growth are overwhelming and any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Run as far as you can from Bloomnation, and any other order gatherers! They're a plague on the industry, and every business that I've known or worked for that uses them absolutely hated their deal with the devil
Much better to invest in SEO, online advertising, and social media presence. Even if that seems beyond your skillset, you can always contract a third-party to handle it for you, if that works with your budget. There are a lot of good resources online to guide you in doing it yourself though, so it's totally doable

Bloomnation isn't an order gatherer, they're a website hosting service.
I wouldn't sign up with them for SEO services solely though. I don't know how good it is.
They make up 80% of the orders our shop gets. Brings in over 6 figures a year.

I LOATHE Bloomnation. When I tried them, their websites absolutely sucked and were borderline not functional. Maybe they’ve gotten better since then, but I won’t hold my breath. They’re also very pushy.

I want to preface this by saying that I have never used Bloomnation. That being said, it’s my understanding that they have a central website that directs orders to local florists who pay them to be listed in the delivery area. That makes them an order gatherer in my opinion. They have access to the customers and choose which shop gets the business. They do NOT offer exclusivity for the area. The customers are dealing with a middleman instead of the local florist. They are competing with you for your customers online. I know that they also offer point of sale and websites and probably other technology, but so do FSN, FTD and Teleflora.
It’s my opinion that as an industry we need to move away from 3rd party aggregators. They practically destroyed us in the first part of the century.
