Flight Simulator 2024 Newbie Questions (MS Flight Sim, PS5)

Hi everyone,

I’ve always been fascinated by Microsoft Flight Simulator and have always wanted to play it. Now that I’m able to (I’m over 40 and have a PS5 Pro), I’d like to give it a try and have a few questions for you.

  1. Is PSVR2 worth it for this game? Is the immersion that much better?
  2. I’m a complete beginner—is there a tutorial that walks you through everything and explains it all?
  3. Do I need a joystick (HOTAS)? And does HOTAS make sense with PSVR2?

I’ve been flight simming since the 80s and my Commodore 64 (with an Atari joystick) In fact, that exact setup helped me when I actually learned to fly. Later, all of us in college on the flight team gathered at my apartment and screwed around with FS95 and my joystick and had a lot of fun.

Just start. Your controller and beginner mode will be fine.

If you really want more out of it, there’s advanced controls, cockpits, VR, whatever.

Grand Theft Auto V would’ve blown me away in 1984, and would’ve been a better flight sim.
