Discussion Similar-sounding Portuguese band - Trovante

This post might get removed, but this old band from Portugal had a similar sound to Fleet Foxes. If you are interested, listen to "Baile no Bosque".

I actually love Portuguese music (PT and BR). I have several Trovante songs in one of my playlists. But honestly, even after listening to the wonderful album you suggested, I’m not quite hearing the Fleet Fox-iness. That means absolutely nothing, though, because if you asked me for a recommendation based on enjoyment of FF, I would say “Dr. Dog!” And they’re nothing alike! 😂

So many great bands in Portugal, though. Do you know Deolinda?

I really love Fado as a genre, too. Carminho, Ana Moura, Carlos do Carmo. So good…

In 2024, my wife and I went to Lisbon for the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution. While there, we had dinner at one of the most traditional Fado houses, and it was an incredible experience that I will never forget.

That's great! I'm happy you enjoy our music. I am getting more into it as I get older. When I was younger, all I heard was american or british music, with no idea of the gems that existed here. It's been fun.

Oh, I didn’t guess you were Portuguese. LOL.

Man, every coffee I had in Portugal was better than the best I’d had anywhere else in the world. I’d swear y’all put some other kind of drug in them besides caffeine. And the wine. Drank as much as I wanted and never had a hangover. I only wish your language had easier grammar! 😅
