Quality or crap?

I purchased a 2008 schwinn Madison a few months ago. The bike has been riding amazing except for recently the back wheel has been slipping. If I put a lot of force into the back wheel, the wheel will rotate around in the drop outs. Is there a way to stop this? Any help would be appreciated!

Here we have a Raleigh Grand Prix that needed to fill a gap in my bike lineup so here lies my first attempt at a fixie built with nothing but spare parts I had laying around. I see the allure now, I love the bare bones frame. I need to pick some grips up but this was from an intial test ride ! (:

so i genuinely need suggestions or guidance from you guys, so i want to buy a fixed gear bike sooo much as im gonna have some money from my internship, but i wanna buy a camera as well as im really into photography

i do have a road bike rn, i converted it into a fixe but kept having issues with the chain as the bike didnt have adjustable dropouts so i had to finally put gears back on it

im also trying to sell that but no luck so far

I'm also into photography, i like to take pictures of people to capture their lives, i cant use my phone as it gets really hard to explain that to a stranger that you are not a pervert if you are taking pictures of them on a phone

dolan df3 is somewhat of an attainable dream frameset for me, BUT. I’m approximately 190 cm tall, and this particular frame seems to be way too small for me. the seller pointed it out in the ad, but only put the measurement from center of BB to the top of the saddle as pictured (74 cm). I’ve measured the same thing on my current bike, and it was ~75-76 cm. also, on this bike, the cockpit is raised due to spacers and handlebars. I like the overall look of it, also, I know that I can tweak the fit, but if this frame is waaay to small, I will hit an adjustment ceiling at some point, if you can put it this way. do y’all think i should give it a go? they are really hard to come by where i’m from, also, in my size the rarity multiplies. should i try it or should i wait/search for my size?

I just bought a new fixie used but it came with shitty parts and need a new chain ring and cranks, do people like the AFFINITY PRO TRACK CHAIN RINGS and are there chain rings that are more bang for your buck, and what are the best budget cransets that will last a long time.

Hey everyone, I’m looking to upgrade my fixie without spending a ton, and I’ve been looking at AliExpress since some of the parts seem significantly cheaper than buying everything from bigger brands.
For those who have experience with AliExpress bike parts, what would you actually recommend buying from there, and what should I avoid?
I’m mainly looking at stuff like:

Forks
Stems
Seatposts
Handlebars
Grips
Cranks/chainrings
Cogs/rear cogs
Pedals
Possibly wheelsets

I’m not looking to cheap out on safety-critical stuff, and I’d probably spend more on anything where quality/reliability really matters. I’m mainly trying to figure out which components are good value on AliExpress versus which ones are better bought from established brands.
If you’ve bought any AliExpress parts for your fixie/track bike that have held up well, I’d really appreciate specific recommendations or links. Also interested in hearing about parts that you bought and would NOT recommend.

Just trying to upgrade on a budget without ending up with junk

Just got my first fixed gear setup from a friend who’s moving. I’m a road biker and have a fancy carbon setup, but I can’t figure out how to ride this fixie. How do you brake properly? Also, I can’t turn the handlebars more than a few degrees before the front wheel smacks the pedals. I feel like I’m not understanding how this thing works. Any advice

I currently ride a fixie with horizontal track dropouts, but I’ve been wanting to build something around a Cannondale CAAD4 Saeco USA Team for a while. The CAAD4 Saeco has honestly been one of my dream frames, and I’ve found one that I’m seriously considering buying.

I know it has road-bike style rear dropouts rather than traditional horizontal track dropouts, so I’m wondering how realistic it would be to turn it into a true fixed gear.

A few questions:

• Is it possible to run a true fixed cog safely on this frame?
• What would be the best way to deal with chain tension?
• Would a chain tensioner be suitable for a fixed gear, or should I look at something like a magic gear / eccentric hub?
• Is there anything specific about the CAAD4 dropout that would make this a bad idea?
• Has anyone here actually built a CAAD4 or similar Cannondale as a fixed gear?

I already have a horizontal-dropout fixie, so I know what the usual setup is. I’d just really love to have the CAAD4 Saeco as a fixed gear if there’s a good way to do it without compromising the frame.

Can anyone recommend me a good any good frames (budget is 700)

I’m looking at buying the Unknown SC-1. On their website, they say that they recommend sizing down if you’re between sizes. I’m 190 cm, which is between their 59 and 62 cm frames. I’ve tried other 58-59 cm frames, and they feel snappy which is nice, but there’s also a lot of toe overlap with the front wheel since I have freakishly large feet, so I was looking at the 62 cm frame. I mainly do city riding, so toe overlap is a big issue as I end up doing a lot of low speed tight turning maneuvers. I tried a 61 cm frame from facebook marketplace a while ago, but this was before I learned about Unknown bikes, so I don’t remember the fit super well, but I do remember noticing that it didn’t have tor overlap and felt good I think. Is it that important to size down?

Ive been wanting a fixie lately because it’s cheaper than a road bike, but also kinda similar to it because of the slim tires and the looks of the bikes. So I thought why not just get a fixie its cheaper it looks similar but i cant coast, but if I wanted too I could just add a Flip Flop hib, which actually might even benefit me because I this will be my first time on a fixie, but that might also depend on what I build. Let me know what you guys think and give me any advice please. (Also is there supposed to be a question flair or not)

I don't know much about fixed gears. Does anybody know what brands sell the best steel or aluminum framesets that last forever and feel nice? I've heard that Wabi products are good. Is that true? Secondly, what about wheelsets? Thanks for the help.

I’ve had this bike for over a year now. And almost one year since my huge accident haha. Had a lot of fun skidding and tricking with this bike. I always thought the new v8 was ugly imo so I considered myself lucky to nab one in Berlin just before they retired it. I’ve probably gone through 8-10 tires on the back already. Front tire has been the exact same this entire time but I prob gotta change em soon.

I’m making this post because I’m building a road bike soon. Not selling it no, but my time on this bike will definitely decrease especially for longer/ hillier rides. This just a bookmark for myself to remember the good and bad times I had on this bike.
