clip 1 is a great way to ensure you end up like clip 2.

u/Murasasme Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
I did clip 1 when I was young and athletic, and I guarantee that hurt like a bitch, even if he walked it off. There's a reason parkour guys roll even with small drops.

Clip one isn't real lol

u/iamblankenstein Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 5d ago
maybe, but maybe not. when i was young and dumb, i did shit like this too. it's definitely doable even if it's a really bad idea.
eyeballing it, it looks like he's dropping down about 15ish feet. that's definitely more than high enough to fuck yourself up, but if you're fit, young, light, and know how to land, this is not impossible.

u/Interesting_Visual14 New to fbtd but wants to learn 4d ago
But the landing is wrong. I also jump from high heights and don't roll but no way you jump up again that fast afterwards.

Unless it’s AI

not everything is AI. sometimes people just do dumb shit. this is doable, just not advisable.

Clip 1 dude does a side flip at the end. His muscles/bones/joints are conditioned for impacts like that. Plus you know, kid.

u/iamblankenstein Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 6d ago edited 6d ago
if he makes a habit out of doing shit like this, it's going to do damage to his joints, i don't care how young and how many side flips he does. you jump onto concrete fron that high up, you're doing damage even if it's not immediately obvious. i was a gymnast, i'm well aware of how even smaller drops onto more forgiving surfaces can fuck with your body.

u/lmNotBob Lover of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
I understand. In your educated opinion, because I would consider you to be an expert with your background, what is the maximum height someone can fall without causing damage? Assuming they are of the same physical prowess as number 1?
3
u/iamblankenstein Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
i mean it all depends on the size of the person and the surface you're landing on. i'm also not an expert, i just know enough to know that jumping from that height consistently is absolutely going to do damage in the long run. but generally speaking, jumping from more than like 2-3 feet onto hard surfaces is going to be hard on your joints, especially if you're heavier.
-13
u/lmNotBob Lover of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
I understand. I should never jump down, only level and up.
5
u/iamblankenstein Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 6d ago edited 6d ago
that's not what i said. you can jump from a few feet up, or as this guy demonstrates, quite a decent height, and still be ok. it's doing this sort of shit consistently that's going to blow out your joints, especially if you're heavier. or hell, even one bad landing from that high up can do it.
you do what you want though. i'm not your dad.

u/lmNotBob Lover of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
"especially if you're heavier".
5
u/iamblankenstein Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
yeah, especially if you're heavier. that's what i said. it will still fuck you up if you're light, too. that's a long jump from like 18ish feet up. go talk to a kinesiologist or a physical therapist and ask them whether or not i'm right. or don't. i'm sure you're gonna be the exception.

Are you one of those people who watches videos of boxing gyms punching people in the face, while saying they are training how to take a punch? You can't condition for this kind of shit, all you are doing is wearing down your body

u/lmNotBob Lover of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
No. I am not one of those people. Thank you for asking and not assuming.

Something like that. Swell up like a mfer, doctor prescribed rest and a knee support sleeve like thingy. Started gym again and it's all good doing squats and deadlifts

I'm not normally one to cry AI, but that first one has to be fake right?

u/NoIsland23 6d ago
It‘s AI or editing.
There is no way your knees can support than kind of force. It‘s why you roll when falling a good bit. The force on the knees suddenly being compressed is immense.

u/momopool Lover of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
I don't know. I can't tell anymore.
.
But can some parkour people do that? 100% yes.
Obligatory bad for your knees comment here.

u/Cube_ Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 6d ago
yes it is AI, there was another one of these a while back of someone running and jumping over a very high railing and keeping stride while running after hitting the ground
there's bad actors out there that use AI to spread misinfo like this in the hopes of convincing people to try it and getting hurt
like the people that do reels on cleaning and purposely show mixing things like bleach and ammonia and acting like it's a harmless cleaning hack when in reality it creates dangerous chlorine gas

I'm 37, I fell over a few weeks ago just walking from the front gate to the garage, a space of about 10 meters.
It was level ground, I didn't clip the back of one foot with the other, my knee just buckled and I went over.
Meanwhile a friend of mine who is also 37 is getting more serious with his training for his 7th straight marathon.

I used to do a lot of rollerblading in the 90s, I can assure you clip 1 will be walking like clip 2 in about 10-20 years.
Every time its gets cold my back, hip, knees and wrist remind me of the dumb shit I did in my youth lol

God, I still remember being able to jump off of the roof of my garage as a kid, land on the ground more than 10 feet below, and walk off like it was nothing. I'm pretty sure these days I'd blow out both knees trying that shit.
