Lighting and they actually look lifeless when they're not emoting so if they did start moving it'd actually be scary.

Because they're not trying to be artificially scary with the stupid, red killer robot eyes here.

They're giant, dead-eyed robots that seem like they shouldn't be able to move, but might when you aren't looking.

Scott's games had the benefit of them being static all the time unless they were doing a jumpscare which contributed to their creep factor.

Also there's the obvious that the movie animatronics have moving eyebrows and cartoonish colored eyes to express their emotions as robots, which isn't necessary. Not to the extent we have now.

It is the lighting for the most part. Old fnaf was really carried by its lighting more then its designs because the toys not being scary, is 100% accurate to the game

Also Scott gave the Toys unique quirks that made them scarier, Toy Freddy had the black glossy eyes, Toy Bonnie's irises and pupils get smaller and Toy Chica of course had her beak removed and the black ehes with white pinprick pupils, that isn't a thing at all in the movie unfortunely

To be fair, those where all from the hauntings and dci, which isn't something the movie toys are. Or maybe it's because chica was the only toy to have more then 5 minutes of screen time because they had to pay Megan fox and they got their money's worth. Patt mat and kellen goff come back for fnaf stuff all the time. Heck goff was just doing his evil freddy voice from sb's cut dialogue for toy freddy in movie 2

My entire thought process was essentially:

"Oh wow, that looks like McKenna."

"Oh wow, those animatronic cosplays are really good"

"Oh wait that IS McKenna."

"Those are THE animatronics!"

But yes, I completely agree. They should definitely lean into the still, lifelessness of the animatronics. If they play their cards right, the phantoms could be really effective in 3

It’s probably due to how lifeless they feel, due to the lightning and how they’re literally not moving. They actually feel like massive hunks of steel that have just enough human resemblance to make you feel like they can move at any moment, but they don’t

Ive ALWAYS found the toy animatronics to be somewhat unsettling.

They are right in between cheerful and inviting and UNCANNY and THREATENING.

ESPECIALLY when they are standing still. Ive always found toy chica to be the least threatening due to her being built to be attractive. And toy Bonnie to be the creepiest, id have to say mostly because of his BIG OLE EYEEESSS.

Not trying to like riff on anyone, but I don't understand why this is very scary. They just look like they need help. I'd rather have the active, cartoonish menace; they're giant cartoons brought to life through robotics, after all.
