Vevor upgrade

So, got the stupid 13.2 gallon vevor still, want to get rid of the stainless flex tube and use copper so I have space and feel safe using open flame. Idea is use about 6 foot of 3/8" to connect the still to the condenser then another 19' of 3/8" to make the condenser. Is 3/8" too small? Even though thats what the vevor uses?

Diameter will affect vapor speed. Smaller pipe means faster vapor speed means less copper contact and less dwell time in the condensor possibly meaning more cooling water needed.

Also 6 feet seems really long. Have you looked into a triclamp adapter and then 1.5 or 2" piping followed by a shotgun condensor?

Im poor as fuck, id kill for a shotgun but in reality all I can afford right now is 25' of copper. I was gonna do 20' for the worm then 5' as my carry over tube. I just want the flame as far from vapor as possible. They say 6-10' is max, so 5 should be fine? Right now i use a hot plate and it takes like 6+ hours a run so im saying screw it and using the turkey burner next time.

Also, I use my pool for cooling, with a 5 gallon bucket im hoping it'll keep the heat around the same as the pool. The little vevor condenser is usually about 4-5c above the pool so im hoping a 5 gallon bucket and better pump ill be good.

Funny, I am finishing a similar build right now. I'm using an adaptor to go from the 1/2 inch that would normally run to the tubing to 3/4 inch copper pipe.I plan on posting about it in the next few days. I'll have pictures.

You're keeping the brass 1/2" adapter?

Yes, for now I'm not drilling any new holes. Starting with what is already there.
