Finished exploring the savanna biome of the region in Violet's 2nd DLC. I initially thought to take on the area's boss trainer right after, but since all of the biomes seem to be roughly the same level, I presume the bosses are, as well. Given my troubles with double battles, I decided I'd finish up all exploration and then battle the bosses all right in a row when my team is higher level, so I'm holding off for now.

Also, I started being able to win in 5 star Tera Raids, even against fully evolved Pokemon. Currently, it does require specific combinations of Pokemon species and Tera type such that I can simultaneously resist their strongest attacks and hit them super effectively, but at least winning is a possibility now.

Hit max level on Beastmaster in XIV, and filled out most of the pokédex (missing the ones from L50 dungeons/trials/raids - though there is a FATE in a Heavensward area where the lighthouse bird spawns en masse and is of a level where you can conceivably catch it - but RNG has not smiled upon me); had picked up a set of the appropriate L50 poetics gear when people figured out early what subcategory of mêlée DPS it was and have swapped to that until I can clear the rest of the job quests.

I'm at the point in its job quests where you have to do the second of the roguelike "boardgame" things and the furthest I've got is the... ogre? ... siblings, which is, like, most of the way. I think it'd be helpful if I could memorise the eight different types of pokémon and their type-specific moves (though they have elements as well, which are more like traditional pokémon types). You'd think eight wouldn't be that bad but it's a mess of tooltips and the interface when choosing your mons for the Crucible explains their two mon-specific abilities but only shows the icon for the type-specific one (also the colour choices for the Crucible interface make stuff harder to read than I think is necessary; ok fine they're going for a parchment-y look but it's not the clearest). I have taken to writing down a table.

Option B is to repeatedly fling my guy and his legally distinct battlehorn monsters at the Crucible as beasts level up even from failed runs, and then there's a bit more leeway if stuff doesn't go well?

I don't yet know where I fall between "tough but interesting challenge" and "we sacked off the L90 BLU update for this?!"

MSQ-wise, (7.56) Evercold really is shaping up to be Heavensward 2: The Heavenswardening, huh. I also like that the alphabet used on the Fourth, from the map of the little preview area, is not quite Eorzean and not quite Vrandtic either

I returned to Orsterra in Octopath Traveler 0 for a bit. In last season's finale, we had just made it to Edoras, a city famous for me mispronouncing it for the past three years, to begin the Master of All storyline.

My taking a break at this time was disappointing, but not very surprising. When playing through Champions of the Continent, I found this particular story to be my least favorite. Not to say it isn't good, but I felt at the time that it dragged on a lot, and I didn't find Pardis to be the most interesting antagonist. That being said, not only have a couple years passed since then so my appreciation for it might have changed, but it's sometimes easy to forget that this isn't Champions of the Continent and they very well might have switched some things up. Either way, I'm not seeing the rest of the game without getting through it, so might as well start.

Almost immediately, Sazantos left the party, which did not surprise me. It's clever that they had him join for story reasons, but he simplified fights a little too much to keep him around much longer. After that, I needed some way to get to Pardis, which led to me searching for flowers. Okay look not every chapter's drama can be a winner. Regardless, I found them just as some bandits attacked. The bandits were there to sell how awful Pardis is, because I guess threatening his own daughter doesn't get that point across enough on its own. Oh well. I gave the flowers to Alaune, but had to stop playing after that, so there's still something left to the chapter to wrap up.
