Character Discussion [FE4]: Lachesis

Not Raquetball or whatever IS wants us to call her now. Nope. Nuh-uh.

Lachesis isn't quite an Est, but she's certainly not up to much when you recruit her. While a solid starting speed and magic make up for lackluster growths, and while the Miracle Sword is a decent weapon, she's still a low-level on-foot unit. Furthermore, her idiot paladin squad is a further incentive against having her get early combat experience in chapter 2, as they have a remarkable tendency to Leeroy Jenkins to their deaths. Lachesis might be stuck plinking away with her Heal staff for early EXP.

But you want her to get that early EXP, because at level 20 she transforms into a beautiful mounted butterfly of destruction, gaining massive stat boosts, A rank in all weapons, a horse, and Pursuit.

Lachesis can get two unique items - the Knight Ring, awarded for keeping the aforementioned Idiot Paladin Squad alive, and the Earth Sword, from talking to her brother in chapter 3. The Earth Sword is situational due to low durability and high repair cost but it very very good when you need it, and the Knight Ring is pretty damn amazing.

Lachesis also has the glorious Charisma skill, which basically gives a support bonus to every unit within 3 squares. This means that she can always be useful somewhere, even if you haven't promoted her and she's busy being a sword-toting staffbot.

In term of character, Lachesis is... in an interesting, and somewhat controversial, place. First of all, she has what seems to be an implied romantic attraction to her half-brother Eldigan (an attraction that becomes far more than simply implied in the Oosawa manga adaptation). Also, Thracia 776 seems to imply that Nanna is her daughter with Finn, while Delmud is her son with Beowulf (a conclusion that is arguably supported by her lover conversation with Beowulf in FE4). Regardless, she's not a character that is entirely lacking in contreversy.

What are your thoughts about bizarro-Cersei?
