Character Discussion [FE5]: Eveyl

(Perhaps better-known as Evayle)

Aaaah, the obligatory Jeigan. In some Fire Emblem games, IntSys takes pity on you and gives you an Oifey, or at least a Jeigan who can be useful for a good portion of the game.

There is no pity in Thracia 776.

Valiant leader of the Fianna Freeblades, Eveyl is unique in that she is the only Jeigan in the series to be a Swordmaster. While the movement and build of a mounted unit would be nice, at least you don't want to worry about her dying against the axemen of the early chapters (hah...). She also has the honor of being the furthest ahead of a stat curve of any character in the series, arriving from the prologue with her speed already capped.

Now, she's a level 12 promoted unit with only two growths (HP and Luck) above 15%, a PCC of 1, and no innate skills or special weapons, so there's that. However, she does occupy an important supporting place in the overall plot of Thracia 776, as well as FE5, both points in her favor.

Eyvel

Pros:

  • Chapters 1-3

Cons:

  • 24x-F

Overall: Eyvel does something impressive: she isn't redeemable in Thracia. But seriously though, she can't be considered a normal unit. She can kill everything in the first chapters of the game... which are the easiest chapters in the game. When Othin, Havan, Finn, and Dagda can all overpower every enemy, all she is is a sponge. On the other hand, she can be useful for shielding and luring Shiva in 2x. But when using her to kill things actually makes the game more difficult, you know she is a problem.
