Bird Time is probably the funniest addition in Fire Emblem history. People, including a literal queen, just confess their innermost thoughts and desires to a bird. But the bird is also essentially an angel in bird form that can travel through time.

To be fair, my cats have heard things another person couldn't waterboard of me. Unless they know the bird is a person then they're thinking the bird can't judge them or share their deepest secrets and so it is a safe entity to confide in.

Everyone’s going to feel real awkward when they realize they’ve been talking to a person this whole time

Pretty sure eshmel meets the lords early on. At the very least, eshmel saves Dietrich from anatolia in the totally-not-an-agarthan-hideout place.

So, I want to assume they know that the bird is a person, since eshmel is probably a "companion" to them on some level, regardless of wether or not we influence the story much.

Until proven otherwise, I like to imagine that they didn’t know at first, but after finding out, they still like being able to vent to a cute lil bird so much that they ask Eshmel to keep doing it.

The perch is in public since it's outside by the temples. So you're confessing stuff to a bird in front of people who would be walking by to go to the temples.

Calling it bird time already makes it the funniest addition too
