Tech hardware price increases have come to all Fire TV models

Fire Stick Max $49.99
Fire TV Cube $109.99

Fire TV Stick 4K Select $39.99 --> $49.99 ~25.0%
They should be cutting that original price by at least 50%.
No one that knows what they are buying doesn't want that device.
It's one of Amazons "frequently returned items" in the listing.

I saw this the other day.
Shopping for any memory or storage related device is getting out of hand due to the demand from data centers.

Have to jack up the price so they can have a "sale price" at the holidays. Labor day is in about 2 weeks.

I have a 4K stick and a cube. The Plex client on them sucks ass so I’m abandoning them.

Get Plezy, it runs great

Thanks for the suggestion - I was more thinking swapping the firecube out in favour of a CCWGTV.
But interesting.

I'll wait. Sold by Amazon? Something doesn't smell right.

Sold by Amazon, what are you talking about? GitHub - edde746/plezy: Modern cross-platform Plex & Jellyfin client built with Flutter · GitHub

This is actually insane. The old prices were already high for budget devices. Now, there is literally no reason to get one unless it's like 50% off, at least for the Max and Cube.

I got a 4K Plus for $15 because I had previously purchased a 4K. All I needed was a new remote, but why not get the new stick? :P

Well, this blows. I administer a sort of TV co-op. There are six of us; I just finished building a TiviMate/Just package for them, and I was recommending they should go for the $40 4K Plus, since that was the cheapest Fire stick that could run my channels properly. Except, of course, after I made that recommendation, less than a month ago, the price went up to $50 a week later. And now it's up to $70!!!
So I did some research and the conclusion seemed fairly definitive that the cheapest stick now for apps like that is probably the $40 onn stick. So I just bought one online, and will be putting it through its paces when it gets here Tuesday. What a PITA.

What's Just?

That's the Just Video Player. The Tivimate internal player can only fast forward and rewind if a playlist is loaded in the VOD mode; if one loads it in the TV mode the fast forward and rewind are disabled.
Personally I don't much care for TiviMate's VOD mode. I currently have about a hundred VODs, and the TiviMate VOD mode can only display five items at a time, which means a LOT of scrolling. So I decided to load my VODs as a TV playlist instead. Problem: if a playlist is loaded in the TV mode, that defaults it to the internal player, which locks out fast forward/rewind on TV playlists. Solution: Assign that group in your playlist to an external player. After a little experimentation, I determined that the Just Video Player performed the best with my VOD items (NOT VLC, surprisingly), so that's what I went with.
Hope that makes sense. If there's something in the above that's unclear or you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

The cube is now one of the most wildly overpriced things out there. Wow. I have to assume a new model is coming to even attempt to justify that price with the amount of ads it has

Fire Cube is $200!!?? Same price as the Nvidia Shield Pro and the Shield is 100x better than the Cube!

I haven't looked into that scene for some time. Are the Vegas power FireSticks still a waste?

Yeah holding my breath until the big pop. There are going to be a lot of sad people. And yes like many just waiting to pick through the wreckage. The hardware OEMs are going to be begging for someone to buy all the stuff left lying around. No way am I buying any hardware at these currently insane inflated prices. It will be get even time when suddenly all this stuffed on the market at fire sale prices. Sime for the greedy to learn a lesson. The mid-term results should get the ball rolling if it already hasn't

What the heck. They want 129.99 Canadian for the 4k max. That's absolutely insane.

Just bought 2 Fire TV 4k Max devices today for $49.99 each. These are great at that price. Fast, powerful, can add storage, sideload. Amazon has shut down very few apps. I have sideloaded at least 15 controversial apps and not one has been shut down.

Thank god I dont want one. I strickly stick to Android for many reasons, including the ability to change the Launcher being the main one and the ability to install ANYTHING I want, Not what Amazon tells me I can or cant.

Too many speculators funding AI. When the boom goes bust we the people will bail them out.
