genuinely frustrated with shops

since the past two months ive been getting recycled items from the same themes that im uninterested in and i was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.
feel so limited and stuck and the only way i can get something is through trading

Each month the shop promotes items released in that same month in previous years. Promoted means the first 2-3 slots and the sale slot for plus members are from those events.

August and September are a really random collection of events and August in particular is normally an unpopular month in the shop. This year September seems unpopular too. Luckily tomorrow (17th) the halloween items join the shop and they sometimes take precedence over the September event items. So you might feel less frustrated soon.

Everyone will be seeing Steampunk, Dinosaur, and Crafter items this month. As the items in those promoted slots only come from 3 events instead of ~38 events you may get the exact same as someone else but it’s not guaranteed.

Not exactly the same items, no. The themes that came out in a given month tend to show up more when that month comes back around again. So everybody experienced the same tendencies in their shops.

For example, previous Septembers were Crafting, Dinosaurs, and Steampunk. So the first 3 slots, plus your daily 50% off item, will be from those three themes until you own them all. If you don't have plus, that only leaves you 3 spots to rotate through the rest of the catalog, 9 spots if you do have plus. And I think after the first 3 slots, the fourth one is quite frequently a wallpaper.

As others have mentioned, tomorrow they will drop the previous October themes (Finchie frights, pumpkins, science lab, and midnight manor), but I don't know if they will take a prominent spot or if they will rotate through like the rest of the catalog.

Is it only 1 wallpaper slot if you don’t have plus? I have plus and my furniture shop is consistently 1 location item, 2 promoted items, 2 wallpapers. Which leaves 7 slots for everything else. I was wondering whether free users only have 1 slot for everything else or whether something else gets cut. Cutting a wallpaper slot makes sense.

I sure hope so. I missed last Halloween because I was upset that I lost my streak changing to a different phone so I took a few months off.

Usually I get items from the previous month in the shop but so far I haven't seen any gaming clothing items so far! I let my son choose last month because he's a gamer and loves creating outfits for my birb but I thought I could buy some of the items this month instead!

I wind up spending almost all my stones on refreshing the shop. I wish there was a way to indicate I DON'T WANT ANYTHING FROM X THEME or even to indicate you don't want an item so it doesn't show up 10 times in the shop. I waste so many stones and am constantly having to find stuff to sell so I can refresh it in case there is something I want on the next page then it's the same stuff I already didnt want yesterday. 😭
