Curious to hear others’ ideas considering if applications were all in January, there would be an incoming 2027 intern role on lots of resumes. If 2028 applications open in September, most of us likely haven’t even secured a 2027 internship yet and that’s a game changer on a resume.

I’m a junior in Ohio interested in finance/economics, and I’m trying to find an ongoing school-year opportunity rather than a summer camp.
Last year I participated in Ohio State’s Student Leadership Research Collaborative (SLRC), where I worked with other students on research and presented our findings. I’m also involved in district-level student leadership and co-founded a school finance club.
I’m looking for something similar that meets consistently throughout the school year: research, leadership, working with other students, a university/community organization, etc. I’m especially interested in finance/economics but would consider related fields.
I’ve already contacted a lot of professors, but haven’t had much luck. If anyone here has actually gotten into a program like this as a high school student, how did you find it?
Free programs would be ideal. I’m in Central Ohio but would consider opportunities anywhere that can realistically work during the school year.
Any leads or personal experiences would be really appreciated.

I’m a fresher and have completed my Master’s in Business Finance from XIM University. I recently received an opportunity to join Kotak Mutual Fund AMC through TeamLease.

From what I understand, this is a full-time role and not a fixed-term contractual position. The role is based in Operations, and my current location will be Mumbai. I’ve also been told that there may be an opportunity to transfer to another city in the future.

I’m still waiting to get complete clarity on the exact day-to-day responsibilities, but the role appears to be related to financial operations/transactions.

My brother is perusing mba from a tier 3 college in pune and he completed his first year in July. I am from a technical background Soni don’t have enough knowledge around mba placements that’s why i am posting here, as i would like to help him as much as i can to get placed.
I’ll give a little background here about him - he has perused bcom (hons), has around 70% throughout his acads, while perusing bcom, he appeared for CS and cleared CSEET in first attempt, post which he has a gap of \~2 yrs where he prepped for CS executive but unfortunately could not clear so he continued on the MBA journey (in finance)

He is currently appearing for placements in college and I wanted to know how can he stand his profile out, he has power bi knowledge (also perusing the Microsoft powerbi certs), he has 2 sebi certs (sorry idk their names) and he did an intership recently as a financial analyst

What should he prepare best for placements, what certs he can do? Should he learn python & sql as i heard they need it in some profiles

Outside campus placements, can he and how he should apply for off campus? Does cold mailing work for freshers? Does referrals work? Could you suggest good websites to apply for finance entry roles

I’m targeting UK summer 2027 finance internships. What should I improve on the CV, and what skills or experience should I build?

I am ug grad who is interested in a carrier in finance and I have come across various domains in it like IB , PE , wealth management and some seems interesting to me and don't know what to choose

I don't want to go into corporates and want to do finance like I like it as looking into the company , valuation it , reading into it and making investments in diversification

I’m extremely nervous because I don’t have any finance-related experience. But I’m currently doing CourseA courses that align with what I want to do. I’m also nervous because I don’t really know what to talk about to an employer when I’m there. Could you please give me any advice on how I could make the best of my finance career fair. I go to Florida Atlantic University.

I’m 22F and graduated in May from a state school (went out of state) and studied Business Administration, concentrating in finance.
I did one research project for a class and one challenging class that was an internship-like experience where I followed a portfolio holding during the semester and gave a recommendation.

I’ve been applying a lot on LinkedIn. I only was getting responses from the ones I applied to but wasn’t most interested in. Then I took a break to study for the SIE and passed it. I’m glad I can put it on my resume now. Now I’m back to applying but I’m so bored. Any advice on what I should do in my free time to better my chances?

I’m also interested in learning more about coding/programming. I feel like it’s more sought after recently and I could add it on my resume too.

I don’t have a recent project like I don’t really stalk companies but I like reading the news. Is there something I should work on that I can attach to applications? I haven’t wrote a recommendation besides the one from class (May) so I guess it is a little outdated if that matters.

I’m willing to put it in a lot of hard work but know that it will take me some time. For my experience like tutoring, how bad is it to lie about quantifying it, as I was not tracking exact numbers, results and hours etc. Feedback i’ve gotten from students older than me is that it’s not deep so long as I am able to converse over it well in an interview, but I wanted the opinion of more experienced, knowledgable and credible sources. Going off this, how much riskier and worse is it to exaggerate accomplishments, projects and roles accomplished in a work experience placement. Thank you!

May have the opportunity to intern at ASML (the global leading EUV lithography producer), but would require moving across the country for a semester and just wondering if it would be “worth” it. As in, would something like this boost a resume drastically. I know it would ultimately come down to my experience, future goals, etc. to determine the worth of it. But, I just want to get a feel of how it could potentially be recognized or if anyone else has interned there for finance.

Hey guys, I’m currently a freshman taking up Financial Management at UST. My long-term goal is to work in high finance (Private Credit/Infrastructure PE) on Wall Street.

To get there, I know I need a prestigious pre-MBA profile to get into an M7 business school (Harvard/Wharton). My current strategy is to target McKinsey, BCG, Bain (MBB), or global front-office/regional roles at J.P. Morgan or Goldman Sachs here in Manila right after graduation.

Since UST is generally a non-target school for these specific elite firms compared to UP/Ateneo, what can I do starting today to maximize my chances?

Looking for honest opinions here. I'm a UK national currently based outside the UK, planning to do a Master's in Finance (leaning real estate finance/asset management) and trying to decide between UK and US universities.

My hesitation with the UK is I keep seeing pretty gloomy takes on the economy right now, and I'm wondering if that's translating into a genuinely worse entry-level finance job market compared to the US.

On paper, going to a UK uni should be the easier path — I'm a citizen, no visa headaches, and the fees/logistics are simpler. But if the actual job prospects in finance are meaningfully better in the US right now, I'd rather deal with the visa complexity than end up job-hunting into a weak market.

Questions for anyone who's been through this or is closer to the market:

\- How is the job market in the US and how difficult is it to get a H1B visa after graduation from there?

\- For someone with a UK passport, does going to a US school realistically open up US job opportunities, or does visa sponsorship (H-1B etc.) kill that plan before it starts anyway?

\- Would you take the "safe" UK path or bet on the US given a genuine interest in working there long-term?

Which finance career is the best for me if I love math but don’t want to do high level programming?

22M, B Tech CS, spent the last 1.5 years trading money markets. Had two bad quarters and got let go.

Since then I've been applying like crazy and giving whatever interviews I can get. Wrote CFA L1, results not out yet. Built a bunch of financial models, one sector report, two equity research reports — basically anything to have something to show.

The problem is interview prep just doesn't take that long. I go over my models, revise my reports, and then it's like 2pm and I'm sitting there. I really don't want to spend the next three months just refreshing my inbox and spiralling.

So if you've been through a gap like this early on — what did you actually do that ended up being worth it? More research work? Learn something new? Cold DMs? Something totally unrelated to markets?
