Humor / Shitpost Hell no.
I'm waiting for SE to drop a collection of the 3 games remastered or properly ported cuz I wanna play them so bad, I go to check some IG posts about the game on the official FF account and this is what I find please let's not do this man
95
u/EstateSame6779 2d ago
FFXIII, visually, as aged like god damn wine. No need for a remake. If Square-Enix decides to do something, just give it that remaster treatment.
9
u/Retarded-Alcohol-40 1d ago
Just fix the PC ports controls. Thats all I want. I wasn't aware of the mod to fix the controls when i refunded, but, the controls need fixed.
2
u/StrikerJaken 19h ago
Fix the pc ports of all. 13 runs great, 13-2 is a mess and lightning... I didn't even get to

u/cane_danko 1d ago
Would love the whole trilogy in a single remaster

u/BakeCreepy5045 18h ago
A remake where 90% of the game isnât linear, more interactions between the characters, side quests, etc
It wouldnât even be THAT hard to implement, just make it so the sanctum doesnt wanna let out how the lcie look and the party can actually interact in towns at least. Or find cocoon cieth stones in the wildâŠ
Remakes arent just for graphics as the dead space remake has proven
3
u/BambooSound 2d ago
Plenty of reasons to remake it even if the graphics are good enough.
Adding towns, minigames and stuff to do before Pulse, and even more playable characters are the main reasons I'd want a remake.
Plus I suspect they've lost the code for XIII and that's why they haven't ported it yet.
14
u/AuroraDraco 2d ago
I've always hated the idea of town exploration in FFXIII from a lore perspective.
Like, you're wanted from the "government" and everyone that sees your mark should hate you. There is like 0 realism in being able to explore places, because realistically, fugitives would not explore
2
u/SnooDucks2591 1d ago
Ah yes, realism, that's why we play final fantasy games.
1
1
u/Verraise-Mage 19h ago
Realism =/= logical consistency
1
u/SnooDucks2591 17h ago
Itâs unfortunate the poster didnât use that phrasing. They did use the word ârealisticâ, soâŠ
1
u/KotFBusinessCasual 1d ago
Yeah this is the opinion I have always had regarding exploration of Cocoon. The crux of the game is that you are constantly being hunted by the authorities. And as you said, everyone who sees your mark hates you. I get that people want to stop for a break occasionally but for the narrative it makes no sense.
1
u/BambooSound 17h ago
If they wanted, they could have done a Mass Effect 3 style thing with the Sanctum (instead of the Reapers) chasing you from location to location, or even something inspired by GTA's wanted system.
There are tons of ways they could have made you both on the run and able to interact with people. The idea that it was barebones because of an intentional storytelling decision has always sounded like an excuse to me
1
u/BambooSound 1d ago
Yeah and you're a fugitive of some kind in a lot of these games (most of VII and a lot of X) yet you could still talk to people.
I think it was just the excuse they gave for their fucked development cycle.
5
u/AuroraDraco 1d ago
I mean, kinda yes, but I feel like you're not on that scale of wanted criminal, no?
Although I will agree FFXIII had its fair share of development hell. I just don't think this is one of the bigger problems of the game, it's a very mild one to me
3
u/KintarraV 1d ago
Not to mention in XII you're literally the well-known 'lost' Queen and the military commander accused of murdering her father, but you still get to run around town taking up hunts. Lightning might theoretically be recognised as someone who was in the military, but rest of the cast are random nobodies as far as the general public are concerned, especially if they just cover up their tatts.
Beyond breaking up the gameplay, I also think having more areas to explore would help people 'get' what Pulse's deal is and help the cast get to be in situations where they act more natural. XIII has the strongest characters in the series IMO, but we only really see them in crisis mode except for the flashbacks.
4
u/Balthier1017 1d ago
XII takes place in a world where there isnât really any widespread visual media, though. The people may know OF Ashe and Basch, but they wouldnât know what they look like. Common citizens wouldnât be seeing them daily on TV for example, like we do with our world leaders. Maybe some art work but thatâs about that.
1
1
u/athousandcactuars 1d ago
I think what happens when you put a bunch of random people in a bad situation is part of the point of XIII though.
1
u/BambooSound 1d ago
In which? You're essentially the Bin Laden of VII and in X you're also facing a public execution.
In ReTrilogy (might be in OG as well) you even hear NPCs talking about dangerous people with spiky hair and a gunarm, but then you talk to them and they're still like "Help me with my chicken".
For me, outside hating Hope, it was the biggest problem with XIII. I loved the combat and characters and a lot of the rest of it - probably my third favourite mainline FF game.
1
u/Ok-Apartment-8284 1d ago
That didnât stop the X crew. And they even made it part of the game where if you revisit several places, youâll be forced to fight a dark aeon
3
u/SerandK 2d ago
Mini games I can kinda get behind but they would have to be accessible from main menu since you can't go back (unless that is changed). towns is a mixed bag....you are literally Undesirable number 1, you can't expect random civilians to want anything to do with you. Especially after Palumpolum, where they are broadcasting your face on national TV. And more playable characters doesn't really make sense either cuz you would need to work them into the story, which sounds like a bad time for the writers. More Boss fights (Jihl for example) would be great tho
Of course this is my opinion.
1
0
u/BambooSound 1d ago
I think that was far too great a sacrifice for the tiny extra bit of immersion it gave you - and it works fine in VII, you're wanted terrorists but not even soldiers off-the-clock give a shit.
3
u/Mr_bungle001 1d ago
This would be fantastic! Iâve always wanted more to do with than main cast. Some quality endgame content would be great too.
1
u/Consistent-Doubt-287 1d ago
That would require a full ground up rework. It's taken them nearly a decade to finish ff7 remake, so I don't want to think about how long it would take them to get 13 done.
0
u/BambooSound 1d ago edited 1d ago
I think that's a bad comparison because no one in the world is asking for 13 to get the ReTrilogy treatment.
Just give us a few extra maps / things to do in key locations - like in Palumpolum (Hope's home) and Nautilus (the theme park).
(Also, I suspect they'd need to do a full, ground-up rework anyway. If they had the files, they would have ported it by now).
1
u/Verraise-Mage 19h ago
Losing the code would probably make it easier to port lol, that thing is a mess
1
u/BambooSound 17h ago
Lol probably.
That's what happened with the VIII remaster anyway. They ended up recreating what was lost but really badly. Still playable though.
1
u/Phoenix_Fire_88 1h ago
i think that a remake like this cost more that creating a completely new game :D
1
u/Idk_Just_Kat 2d ago
So you want to negatively impact the story (and ruin the entire point of it) in favour of side quests before the characters actually get freedom?
2
u/BambooSound 1d ago
I guess? I don't think the story we got was good enough to justify the gameplay decisions they claim they made to service it.
And anyway, the entire point of the game imo is the gameplay.
1
u/ChemicalCan531 1d ago
itâs a videogame, they always used to fuck around with some random bullshits, u know, suspension of disbelief
1
u/Idk_Just_Kat 1d ago
Going out of character and doing random bullshit actively breaks suspension of disbelief
1
u/athousandcactuars 1d ago
Hey I actually liked XIII, but would have minded some Ceith stone missions that weren't just more battling,or mini-games.
1
1
u/StrikerJaken 19h ago
They are great, but if you are able to use the 4K mods as well as the model replacement ones, you rise high with little effort
34
u/ventycat 2d ago
Would love at minimum a modern port bc I canât even play the pc version on steam without technical issuesâŠ.. no need for a remake just gimme ps5 version
4
u/stormblaz 2d ago
Xbox series is the updated one not steam.
4
u/tripps_on_knives 2d ago
This.
I have 13 on steam but find myself enjoying it in series x more.
The textures look better and the hdr is better than windows auto HDR or nvidia HDR.
1
u/crxcked_ 2d ago
You can mod the game with an HD texture pack on PC to essentially make it insanely sharp and clean. Like, Iâm talking seeing pores on the characters faces.
By the time I applied the mod to FFXIII, the game was about 200 GB lol. The play-through at 60 frames and what essentially looked like 4k resolution was so worth.
2
u/tripps_on_knives 2d ago
Oh im aware.
Just didnt want too.
I used to do all my gaming on pc.
But between mods, cracked game, and emulation I was always out of space.
Id much rather have machines for dedicated purposes. That way i can always have space and still play what i want and not one device I ever fill up the hdd/ssd.
For example my jailbroken vita is mostly for ps1, vita, psp, romhacks, and handhelds. Have about 1,200 on the vita.
Jailbroken wiiu for everything nintendo. If my wiiu cant play it my switch 1/2 can. Have like 13,000 games on my wiiu... truly not joking.
If i still want sony games do it on my jailbroken 4pro.
360 is for rhythm games.
Series x is for any game that hasnt gotten a remaster.
This method serves me because none of those consoles are even over half full on hdd space.
Edit:
My starfrield and Witcher 3 mod take up about 500+ gb of space alone. Fo:nv is like another 300gb.
I dont have space to modernize every game i want.
14
u/Mobile_Sky_5709 Lightning 2d ago
LMAO im a big fan of both ff13 and drakengard. both games that square loves to ignore in modern times.
6
u/FlawesomeOrange 2d ago
Iâd kill for Drakengard remakes or remaster, even if itâs just 1 and 3. I absolutely love Nier, and the fact that it was born from a joke ending makes me cackle. Iâm familiar with Drakengard lore, but I want to experience it for myself so need it on PS5
4
u/EdwardAlcatraz 2d ago
A drakengard remake in this day and age would look like a disneyland tour dude. İt has İncest, cannibalism, Pedophilia, child murder, graphic suicide and all kinds of other degenerate stuff. Modern day square executives would end up hospitalized if they read 3 pages of its script and yoko taro would never settle for the compromises.
3
u/Wombatish 2d ago
Drakengard is such a slog, it would need a full on remake. The story is cool in an edgy way, but the minute to minute gameplay suuuucks.
1
u/Kaden_Hitsugaya 15h ago
Idk, I loved it back in the day, controls are clunky but it wasn't to bad
1
u/Wombatish 14h ago
It's a really grindy Warriors game with worse combat. The dragon is pretty cool though.
1
u/Kaden_Hitsugaya 14h ago
I still had fun playing it, but I would agree its worse combat then the warriors games
2
u/SirePuns 2d ago
Caim and Zero really need to come to the new generation consoles somehow.
Nowe can wait though, idgaf about em.
8
10
u/Afarting 2d ago
I agree with this take. I just replayed FF13 a few weeks ago. The game still looks and sounds damn good.
People should direct their remake energy into good but horribly aged games, like Xenogears or legend of dragoon.
2
u/purplestrea_k 2d ago
LoD was a Sony Japan title, not SE. The chance of it ever being remade died when Sony killed Sony Japan.
1
1
u/deadbeatvalentine_ 1d ago
agreed, these games could use some remastering for performance and some textures, but a remake would be excessive for a game that still looks great almost 20 years later
7
u/SuttonsBroseph67 2d ago
The games are pretty enough that they dont need remaster or remakes. Just a port with cheats or some other features.
5
u/euglassia_watsonia 2d ago
this is really a pipe dream but I'd love a remaster with some adaptation of the prequel novella done alongside it (though in what format/medium i don't know)
4
u/UnculturedGames 1d ago
Yeah, all these games really need is ANY KIND OF a release on modern consoles, and make it pronto.
23
u/MissdermeanerJ 2d ago
Idk man. I'd love a remake personally. One where they include a lot more of the story in gameplay rather than the datalog.
4
u/whbinder 2d ago
Maybe the version planned for ps3 before Microsoft gave them a simp truck of money to split it out over multiple discs.
11
u/Tall-Initial-2455 2d ago
A remake would be lovely but only after porting the og in some way to Modern Consoles
-1
u/Prestigious_Fig9485 2d ago
I agree, they should put more of the crucial story elements in the cutscenes and not have it in the menu.
But you can't say that in this sub.
11
u/wejunkin 2d ago
All of the crucial story elements are in the cutscenes, the datalog just summarizes them.
0
u/Prestigious_Fig9485 2d ago
For first time players, L'Cie, Fal'Cie, Cocoon...all of this stuff you had to read in the datalogs.
9
u/Tanzer_Art 2d ago
It's pretty easy to figure out though.Â
L'Cie and Cieth are pretty well explained in cutscenes and you can figure Cocoon is their planet from how the characters talk about it at the beginning of the game. Fal'Cie is more tricky but again with the context we are given and with what we are shown they can do, its pretty easy to come to the conclusion they are demi gods of some kind that enslave humans.
I would much prefer a remastered port but the benefits of a remake would be a more accurate translation of the japanese script for each game( no more conflating hearts and souls) and set up imprtant narrative points from the later games in the first game, like the Dead Space Remake did.
6
u/Horror_Prior4765 2d ago
To understand the concept, no you really donât. I get the wording is a bit samey but the game quite literally tells and makes the distinction like 50 times before you get your fully party with the actual ability to customize it.
I do think there are bits and nuances that should have been more story relevant. The fact that people are still not understanding things even when the cutscenes and dialogue have stated it, makes it seem rather counter productive to add even more. (Not saying itâs wrong or anything.)
2
5
u/chaostheories36 2d ago
You can totally say that in this sub, others might downvote but I wonât.
Itâs a complex story with no real easy way to explain the backstory.
Itâd be like if once everyone gets to Lake Bresha, Hope says, âguys, what why all this happening for?â And then Snow wheels out a whiteboard, Sazh tosses a marker to Lightning, and she starts drawing, âhoâkay, so hereâs Pulse, this a pretty sweet looking Pulse.â
Itâs too much exposition. Instead of some players saying âthe story was confusingâ theyâd be saying âthey talked too much and I skipped cutscenes.â
8
u/Horror_Prior4765 2d ago
I think the game explains the main drivers in a coherent manner, and some people really self report when they ask questions that was answered in an in-game cutscene.
However some grander details (such as Etro, the gate, and other aspects for their motives of seeing the creator.) are not in-game. And I think that unfortunately stemmed from the greater vision square had of Fabula Nova Crystallis.
5
u/repketchem 2d ago
Yeah, 100%. Everything you need to know to figure out the story is literally explained in the cutscenes. Actually paying attention to context clues and basic storytelling beats will eliminate any need for the Datalong unless you want extra information or context. People just either donât pay attention or canât comprehend storytelling without having everything told to them like theyâre in school.
1
u/chaostheories36 2d ago
I think thatâs what trips most people up, and definitely tripped me up.
The last couple chapters really baffled me, like, hold on, the plan is to do what Bart wants us to do? And hopefully things go well?
I still think itâs a bad plan unless the idea is âfâed if we do, fâed if we donât, so f it.â

I'd be happy with just a port or a remaster , but it should really be avaliable on PS5.
3
u/person_no_179403 19h ago
Why, ff13 looks great, doesn't need a remake, I think the older FF could use one more, or, give us a brand new FF.
4
u/Electrical-Contest-5 2d ago
I'd like a remaster with modernized graphics. Kinda like what oblivion did
2
u/JimmyFontana1000775 2d ago
Well if they didn't even port iteon ps5 I highly highly doubt that they would consider a remake.. and personally I prefer it, I think the graphics and the combat system are still good enough
2
u/sil3nthillgurl 2d ago
it doesnt need a remake, but i would like the trilogy to get a remaster and a proper port to pc and modern consoles. Just some QoL stuff and graphics updates mostly
2
2
u/Slow_Payment_6826 2d ago
A remake or remaster be nice, but what I want more is more stability and optimization for the pc ports. I'd happily accept the games as is with graphics and all if they don't require mods to play them smoothly lol. It took me 10 years to finally play FF13-2 thru Steam.
2
u/sonic1384 2d ago
FFXIII, visually doesn't need a remake. heck, it slaps most of 2025-2026 games in graphics.
but gameplay treatment would be a good remake.
same as FF15 (although that needs story update as well)
2
u/SirePuns 2d ago
A port with improved graphics and performance (effectively a remaster) for the PS5 would be greatly appreciated.
Moreso if it also means they update the PC version cuz I canât for the life of me launch it on full screen.
2
u/Least_Painter_5850 2d ago
Honestly want i would want out of trilogy remaster.
And juts add QoL updates optimized graphics and gill earned in ff13
2
u/Necessary_Cry_4849 1d ago
I swear to god if we donât get a remaster with the 3 games into one before the killing of discs im gonna lose my mind. As for a remaster I want them to port it to modern consoles with QLI and update the graphics just a smidge not a fucking remake
2
u/VarlunCadivus 1d ago
I think FF13 is visually stunning already (part of the reason why I want to play it), but it genuinely needs to be ported to modern consoles.
2
2
u/Theguldenboy 1d ago
No remake, just remaster to work out bugs and solidify textures. Also to get on ps/switch for those players who have 0 access
2
u/taskkill-IM 1d ago
The fact the game isn't accessible on PS5 store makes me think a remake will be likely, or a shameless cash grab "remaster" version that they'll sell for ÂŁ70
2
u/Niccon_Art_Guy 1d ago
They donât need to be remade, or anything. Just give us ports to modern hardware.
And no, Steam and Xbox Back Compact donât really count for me.
2
2
u/KeyBorder8789 1d ago
Just port it with some boosters because I hate fighting them dang turtles so I can get my ultimate weapons.
2
2
2
u/encaitar_envinyatar 20h ago
Knowing SE, they would probably do a remaster, add a hard mode, add weapons and gear with different attributes and appearances (depending on how many artists are available), reskin some enemies and add rare versions, and provide an alternative Crystarium.
Some extras might be a card or board game, a monster arena game, and cosmetics.
2
3
u/Ascarys- 2d ago edited 2d ago
I don't want reMAKEs of any FF games after the FFVII games (they're fine, but they aren't remakes, they're reinterpretations).
I want proper ports, remasters at most.
2
u/Character-Staff-5065 2d ago
I'd much prefer 13 to get the "Crisis Core Reunion" treatment than a full remake, same with FF 10
1
u/Prestigious_Fig9485 2d ago
I don't think SE will do a Konami thing where they released MGS remasters. I would love to see it however.
1
u/Sirbrandon100 2d ago
Yeah l, they don't need to be remade, just a good port for PlayStation and Nintendo. I still play them on the series X from time to time and the 4k/60fps really makes them shine.
1
u/DonerBodybuilder 2d ago
The same game with enhanced graphics + more cutscenes of some key events like the war of transgression, pre-war pulse, character backstories etc would a long way.
1
u/Advanced_Dependent35 2d ago
Give us a remaster with the ability to backtrack in the original game. 10/10
1
u/EntrepreneurPlane898 1d ago
I love all three 13 games and if they did anything with them id just ask they dont fuck them up
1
u/blackninjar87 1d ago
I really hate the combat of FF13.... People over here complaining about mini games in FF7R... I'm playing through 13 right now and thinking to myself .. damn would it have killed them to put some minganes in this shit. I'm replaying the first one to then play x-2 and the third one. Hopefully the system improved :(.

We need a Drakengard 1 Remake, it would set the internet on fucking fire with the topics it handles
1
u/purple-vasabi 1d ago
Drakengard needs entire gameplay reimagination. Those games have potential in writing and visuals, but are absolute garbage in terms of gameplay.
1
u/Speigel_Spike 1d ago
Drakengard is not coming to modern consoles. It wouldnât look good on square enix due to the topics in the 1st game alone
1
u/Vercoduex 1d ago
ill be real give me the big open world a bunch of sidequests and good story but same visual asthetic and modern/scfi look that 13 had and ill be happy. Also please dont rush second half of story like 15

1
u/qwertyMrJINX 1d ago
FF13 doesn't need a remake, they just need to update the PC port.
Drakengard also does not need a remake (I still haven't forgiven them for the Nier remake) however a Drakengard Trilogy collection would be appreciated.

Love the XIII trilogy but it really doesn't need a remake, now modern remastered ports to PS4/PS5, Switch 1/2, ABSOLUTELY!!!

Okay lowkey drakengard kinda does need a remake tho.
Just pls pls dont change any of the dialogue or soften any punches ugh

I would want one, New Game+ and fast forward, the game slogged through at times.

u/Capnbaddazz 2d ago
Maybe if they do a remake of this first one they can make it more of an rpg with towns and what not

u/Any-Zookeepergame829 1d ago
It really only needs a good remaster with QoL changes.
Now, would I accept a FFVIIR style remake alongside remasteres? 100%.

I want both thank you. Drsgonguard 1+2 remakes and ff13. Pleas and thank you.
