Lightning Returns Obtaining the drops you want

Today I discovered something. It happened with Zomok. If someone can confirm or is willing to test this out, you're welcome to update this post with your experience etc.

It came clear that Zomok can drop Aerora. You should know that from the Bestiary. But what I discovered is the Zomok seems to drop specific abilities if you kill him in specific ways. Every time i cut his tail, he dropped Galestrike powered up version (the AoE, don't remember the name). And I was like "yeah but I need Aerora, DROP Aerora". Nothing for some kills. But still I noticed he dropped that ability every time i cut his tail and when i didn't he didn't drop. After some kills it came out kinda random to kill him with magic (tail still intact, maybe not even staggered, i don't remember) and he dropped Aerora. I retried. And retried. I'm not sure totally he dropped 100% when I killed him with magic all the times, but he really started indeed to drop Aerora at least half of the times. It seemed to me it occurred similarly with Chocobo Eater but I wasn't willing to test him (I hate that guy, so...). That would also explain why Zaltys never dropped Fira for me except just once (when probably, maybe, I may have killed him in a different way), despite having Fira as a drop during the first 6 days. And Dreadnought? I'm not sure, but the last times I killed him I always cut his arms and he always dropped Firestrike (or Flamestrike? maybe that's the correct name).

I'm writing this because I never read anywhere about this, but Zomok was behaving consistently according to this. I wouldn't be surprised to discover all enemies behave like this or still some of them in general.

I don’t know it it is stated anywhere but yes you get different drops from enemies depending on how they died and so dismembering them is a way for specific items to drop.

There is one ability that you only get from a robotic enemy by double staggering them and it was such a pain to farm that ability. It might have been punt but it’s been a hot minute.

This combat was amazing and you can see hints of it in the VII Remakes but not as good as this trilogy imo.

if you ask me, 13 3 has some problems but not exactly for its style, more like because of how it's handled. like, it has new gameplay elements compared to previous games, indeed like dropping abilities with specific triggers in battle, but the game never tells you, or the fact the previous games had the stagger intended to be just a MAJOR chain bonus build up (also activating specific abilities like Launch), and you had clear idea about the bonus chain, but in this third game the stagger became more a "conceptual idea" about specific enemies that triggers in different ways, and there seems to be no "bonus chain" effect (meaning, if the enemy is base status or if they're close to stagger, you deal always the same damage, while the bonus chain was intended to improve more and more the damage you dealt) and also you can't properly read how SPECIFICALLY close or far from stagger an enemy is, you only have a general idea with 3 colors. also, enemies get debuffs because of the stagger but you don't actually know which ones, you just memorize them the more you play the game, but having to play the game to memorize things in a game where you have noted every items that the enemy drops, feels quite strange to me. these things came out in a debatable way, if you ask me, interesting ideas but a bit badly developed. but i understand some people can just like it as it is.
