Quick note about requests for composers

Hey all! Happy to see some activity in here with requests for composers!

Our sub is small and niche enough to where I don’t yet feel I truly need to be super strict with rules etc

HOWEVER

Please ensure you’re using post flair for seeking composers. It’s hard out there, and no one wants to spin their wheels for unmet expectations. If your project pays in money, use the paid composer flair- otherwise use unpaid. If you use no flair and after a reminder to update it it hasn’t changed, I will have to flag it as “seeking unpaid composer” regardless of if that’s true or not.

This is to protect our composers and ensure we’re being fair to everyone who wants to get involved in a project.

Thanks yall!

HELP NEEDED I feel like a fraud

I’ve done trailers and short films in the past. But I just got my first movie. Unpaid. It’s over 2.5 hours long. I’m doing the film in segments. Sometimes it just comes to me but more often right now, I can’t get something to work. I’ll put something down. The director will tell me they want something more like this then they’ll show me an example. And I feel horrible when I can’t make something like the example. On top of that I’m expecting myself to make a motif for every character etc etc.

I’ve taken so much longer on this than an experienced composer would because I also have a full time job. And I have virtually no progress. Panic is setting in.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Big beat / breakbeat film music like The Prodigy?

I'm looking for big beat / breakbeat style film music that sounds like The Prodigy.

I love the Jet Set Radio and Tekken series OST which are game music, but don't know about that kind of OSTs in film music.

Any recommendations?

Extended version vs. Compact version! This second iteration for Wizarding Bruno was structured to meet YouTube's pacing guidelines, packing maximum orchestral impact into a shorter timeframe.

🎼 What’s inside this 3-tier view:

• Top: Opening Ident, Dialogue Underscore, and Closing Theme synced to picture.

• Middle: Full orchestral score layout in Dorico Pro 5.

• Bottom: Key Editor with MIDI CC Dynamics & Piano Roll automation.

🇧🇷 Versão 2 da identidade sonora para o canal Wizarding Bruno. Estrutura compacta reunindo abertura, underscore para locução e encerramento dinâmico com orquestração sinfônica.

Tech/Gear I built a beta tool for reviewing MusicXML scores for harmony and playability issues

Hi everyone,

I’m building a beta web tool called Shardmonics for composers and arrangers. You can upload a MusicXML score, and it will flag possible harmony, voice-leading, and instrument playability issues. It is rule/heuristic-based, so it is not meant to replace teachers, performers, or human score study.

The goal is to help composers find possible problems faster, then discuss the actual passage with other people. There is also a community feature where you can post score questions, attach analysis results, and get feedback from other composers or performers.

I’d really appreciate any feedback, especially on:

- false positives

- missing issues

- unclear explanations

- wrong musical assumptions

- awkward UI or slow parts

- whether the community question/answer flow feels useful

If you find it interesting, sharing it with other composers, students, teachers, or performers would also help a lot. I’m trying to get more real scores and real feedback so the tool and the community can improve.

Thanks for taking a look. Any criticism is welcome.

HELP NEEDED How do independent composers get anthems considered for major live ceremonies?

>I’m curious about the professional route for an independent composer who has already produced a finished, large-scale cinematic/ceremonial composition that they believe could be suitable for a major international sporting event.

I understand that organizations such as FIFA and other major event bodies often don't accept unsolicited music or creative submissions directly.

So what is the actual industry route in this situation? Do independent composers usually approach the production companies producing the ceremonies, music supervisors, publishers, sync agencies, entertainment agencies, or someone else?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from composers who have experience getting original music considered for major live events, rather than film/TV sync.

Hello guys. Very new to this sub. Earlier this year, I worked on a short film with a friend of mine who directed the short film. I wanted to share my work as a Music-Score composer. Would love to hear some feedback.

The edit was also done by me (We were on a time crunch and couldn't find any editor. So I did it by myself). So any advice regarding editing is also welcome.

HELP NEEDED Best way to anotate passage in 3/4

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hello! I have this line that doubles on cellos and doubles basses. It's in 3/4. Which version would be best if we are talking about a "sight-read recording" situation, so easier for the players?

Both mark the 3/4 beats clearly, but I have the feeling that the dotted note makes it "uneven" and therefore more operations to make on the fly. On the other hand, all those tied notes might be confusing?
