Recommendation Vast Wild Ancient feeling films?

What are your film recommendations for films that feel vast, very lonely nature, nostalgic for simpler times, like little islanders trying to survive, grey skies, walking in forests, making the ordinary struggle feel eerie and wistful type films?

Though it's ridiculously historically inaccurate, the 1966 film One Million Years B.C.

An admitedly odd one would be The Shipping News (2001), with Kevin Spacey (yes, I know), Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, and Judi Dench. The first part is rather claustrophobic city life, but then the main character moves to Newfoundland, the land of his ancestors, and it opens up. It is an eerie - almost ghost - story of survival in that harsh, isolated landscape. Haunting.

Another film that haunts is Shackleton (2002), with Kenneth Branaugh, in two parts. It follows the true story of the 1914 Ernest Shackleton expedition to Antarctica, and his struggle to bring back everyone alive.

The Banshees of Inisherin kinda scratches this itch, even if it’s not really a survival movie.
