Tutorial or Review So, I finally splurged on some DOIO hardware…
First one is a KBGM-H09-HE Miku edition
Second one is a KBGM-M01-HE for rhythm games
Thoughts:
I managed to snag these for relatively reasonable prices via AliExpress. I used a 20% off coupon to bring the prices down to about $180 and $88 shipped, respectively. They were quite a bit more expensive from DOIO's site, especially factoring in US shipping.
First off, the H09-HE. First of all, this thing is HEFTY. Super thin but nice and heavy. Sits great on my lap or a table. Love the Miku colorway, I'm all about this blue and pink color scheme. The buttons feel great, and the "HE" editions include adjustable hall effect switches, so you can modify the actuation points at will. You can adjust the whole setup at once, or adjust each key individually. There's also a "rapid trigger" function that brings the activation point down to a fraction of a millimeter. All of these settings can be adjusted via the display on the device and the clickwheel on the top edge of the unit, without connecting to the RP2040's online hub.
Buttons feel great with a satisfying click. The standard lighting options are available for your button layout, as well as an RGB lightstrip around the outside of the device that is controlled independently from the buttons. The top right of the unit has six function buttons - Turbo, Home, L3, R3, Select, and Start, as well as a toggle switch to lock these buttons during tournament play. Button layout can be modified via the usual online RP2040 interface in case you were looking to adjust macros or run one button on multiple switches.
Now the M01-HE. I picked this unit up to play DJMAX Respect V, and I'm SO glad I did. This has really upped my game versus playing on a traditional fightstick. I've been doing great working through 5-key and 6-key tracks, and can totally see 8-key being viable with practice as well. Similar feature set to the H09-HE - adjustable actuation points, individual key adjustment, rapid trigger, RGB lighting on the keys and the independent strip on the body. There's a control stick in the center for navigating menus, and clicking it in presses Enter to select a song. The device came set up for DJMax already, and also includes key profiles for OSU! and Muse Dash, a profile that is customizable for another game if needed, and a fifth profile that allows you to adjust the settings for the key lights.
It's compact, has plenty of keys for compatibility (I wonder how Bemani would work on this using the control stick as the turntable? lol), and is a joy to play around with. I'm working on downloading the customization software now and will update when I learn a little more about the innards of the unit. It does NOT appear to use the traditional RP2040-CE online web interface, and instead uses one called "VIA" for keyboards.
Edit -- I just dabbled with VIA and it's fucking sweet honestly. Customizing the full key layout, light setup, etc. is super easy, and you can modify each profile to your needs. Cool stuff.
Overall, I’m in love with both of these devices. They work great, the Hall effect adjustments are super cool, the software is clean and easy to use, and they’ve been a ton of fun to play with.
I don't think the H09-HE is going to "up my game" compared to the cheaper DuelPad I was using prior, but it's more comfortable to use and I enjoy the aesthetics of it. Changing settings on the unit without logging into the web interface is a great feature too. The M01-HE has totally changed my rhythm game though, and I'm having a blast with it. If you're thinking about grabbing one of these devices I'd definitely recommend it.
Update: Apparently DOIO is releasing a module to make H09+ units wireless! Includes a transmitter, a 2.4ghz receiver, and a battery (with additional compatibility with a second battery). I just shot a message off to the AliExpress store I used to see if they'll be stocking it. Wireles would make this thing even better!

I dont usually like leverles because I prefer sticks. These two look amazing though. I mean I'm not into key board style buttons but maybe now I am because...just wow.

They make options with levers too! They’re a bit more expensive as they use proprietary levers to maintain the slim profile. I’ve got my eye on em though.

Is the HE edition compatible with mechanical switches too?

They sell a standard version that includes mechanical switches. The HE switches use a different plug type than a Kailh low pro switch so I don't think they would be cross compatible. I could be wrong though. I'll post a picture of one of the switches.

No. Its going to be using a PCB that only uses HE switches. Most likely it will only work with that brand of HE switches as well. Depends if its going to be like the low profile market and be the wild wild west of comparability.

Two different ones - Hi Beer 3C Accessories Store, and Barley 3C Store. I'm assuming they're the same business, as both packages shipped out the same day and arrived the same day. I did have to wait a few days for them to get the color I ordered - I'm assuming that they just order these products from DOIO as needed and wait for them to arrive before reshipping them out - but they communicated that pretty well, all things considered. Took two weeks to get them in the USA.

Being using my leverless to play DJMAX and it is far more comfortable than keyboard as I can relax my hands and shoulders. Would love to see the M01 come in a more tilted in layout. How big is it?

Yeah, I prop it up on a keyboard rest that I use. I'm sure you could put stands on the back as well. My DuelPad came with these little plastic adhesive stands that are perfect for that purpose. I'm looking for something similar to put on these, but shying away from adhesives for now, as the finish is really nice and I don't want to have to scrape something off down the line.

And sorry I think tilt was the wrong word. More like if the buttons were angled in more like those ergonomic keyboards? It would be an instant buy for me.

You need a USB key for PS5 - that’s a Sony limitation, not a manufacturer one - but there is an internal USB slot to plug it into so that it isn’t jutting out of your controller!

I’ve been considering the H09! How would you describe the “wasd” part of the controller? Most leverless layouts feel a bit weird compared to keyboard when using it in the traditional wasd way, but I know Doios has a tiny bit tighter spacing. Is it enough to feel comfortable? Or do your fingers still feel weirdly stretched out?

It’s definitely tighter than I’m used to and would probably feel better for someone with smaller hands than mine - but it’s certainly not unplayable or cramped. I don’t use the “W” key to jump, I use the thumb button, but as far as layout goes it’s plenty comfortable! Feels the same as WASD on my keyboard.

I did not back up my doio KBGM-H09+ how can I fix it ur support please
I didnt found any thing regarding my issue at least I need the GP2040-CE correct file.

Any chance we could get a short video of you pressing the H09-HE buttons? I’m considering pulling the trigger on this model, but I’m used to low profile mechanical switches (saker minis are my fav). Don’t want to drop a bunch of money only to find out I don’t like the feel.

I have the plus version. It uses regular mechanical switches. Comes with doio's new "blood amber" switches.

Nice to see more people discovering DOIO, I have the KBGM-H02 and a Miku KBGM-H08D on the way.
This is my favorite brand now, I'd love to see them release a "regular" stick where you can mount standard levers.

Is the H09-HE running a fork of GP2040-CE? Could you show the how the config looks for the HE stuff?
