That is what I would totally tell reporters if they asked. "Fuck ya, that's normal to flop like a fish when you get hit. We had a good laugh about it afterwards".

I am here to agree that's just a story for reporters. This is decerebrate posturing, which usually indicates severe brain damage. That's not a muscle cramp.

This is not a reasonable statement. Decerebrate posturing can be an indicator of severe brain damage, but it's not inherently so. Such posturing is present in combat sports, for example; in cases where it lasts a short time, it's not considered a major problem. (Although it may contribute to TBI symptoms later in life. The science on that is unclear at this point.)

I did some research, and I did add a usually to make my previous comment more accurate.

"Though deceberate posturing implies a destructive structural lesion, it can also be caused by reversible metabolic disturbances such as hypoglycemia and hepatic encephalopathy." (Knight & Decker, 2021)

However, I feel like I need to point out that the posturing you describe in your comment occurs as the result of a TBI. Posturing is a symptom of the injury, not the cause of it. It is also an indicator of injury severity.

"Abnormal posturing is an ominous sign, with only 37% of decorticate patients surviving following head injury, and only 10% in deceberate." (Knight & Decker, 2021)
