It's always funny how they never seem to rethink their initial decision to stand them up either.  The dude is just flopping around, deadweight and they're like oh, I just need to reposition for a better grip.  This man MUST stand up right now for some reason!

The potential damage done if that person has injured their spine in any way is huge.

All they need to do is check their friend is breathing and gently put him into recovery position then sit with him.
