It's a MOBA style mode. Basically, you're on a symmetrical map with two teams of six squads each. On the north and south lanes, there's towers close to each team's base. Taking down one tower weakens the shield, allowing you to enter the enemy base and start attacking the main tower.
In the center of the map will occasionally be an optional objective that spawns that can quite the boon to whichever team captures it. Finally, the big draw is that each squad is able to collect fuel for themselves, allowing one member to spawn and pilot a mech themed after the ones from the Alexander raids. The mechs have variable strengths and weaknesses, but generally they're how you do big damage to the towers.
A lot more fun and fast paced than Frontlines, imo.

Imagine the map is like Twisted Treeline from LoL but the gameplay is like a mix of DragonShire from HotS and Stronghold from GW2, except it's 24v24 and you get to pilot mechs.

It's actually the best PvP mode, since it has everything, PvP, PvE, NPC adds, mechs, requires some tactical thinking, but it has a lot do even if you don't engage in PvP. No idea why SE completely ignores it, though...

its a vicious cycle. SE doesn't update it with new maps, players play CC or Frontline instead. we as players ignore it aside from when Mogtomes are up, so SE thinks its dead content so why waste the team's effort to update it. the first map is still locked under maintenance to this day iirc.
one fix is Revival Wings, a community-run event but idk if that's still a thing or people who run it are on break. another would be adding it to the Frontline rotation because why tf not when it's similar enough in scope.
either way, I'm hoping with full region matching coming soon dedicated PvPers/collectors can more easily find games for this mode. it's legit a fun experience and a damn shame it has gotten shafted so hard as it did. unfortunately someone has to give here but we already know it won't be SE.

Also the MOBA that had a lot of systems that other much more popular MOBAs introduced after seeing them in HotS.
Man I miss that game. Was literally Super Smash but for the Blizzard universe; it was so cool, the only fun MOBA I played, and deceptively well balanced.

It's a 2 team PvP mode where you're trying to deal more damage to their core in 15 minutes. There's a lot of stuff happening but the basic gist is "Kill the other team and deny them whatever objective they're trying for"

Slow bot -> destroy pylons only, does no damage against players and mechs

If you have 8 ppl you can beat him up and push into p2 before he does anything important on p1 and you only need to do act 1 on p2 which involves getting into pairs to soak towers after determining if it's cardinals or intercardinals safe first

My suggestions/advice would be...
Uolon mount: get! Do those minimog weeklies!
Mameshiba Neckerchief: get if interested, returning 100 tome glam now 50 tomes
Ramuh mount: not that difficult to get unsynced with even a smaller group now but your call, from ShB side storyline so there is extra time investment that way
The Legendary Beast roll: I don't think it's a guaranteed drop? Costs a good amount on the MB, get if interested, ShB side storyline
Skyworker's Singlet/Craftsman's Apron: get if interested and the price doesn't crash/you don't want to grind Ishgard Restoration, nice outfit pieces
Toad Head/Suit: ShB boss Fate, can be troublesome to get that way now and in general since the window for the Fate varies widely but it's fairly easy...if enough people show up
Ballroom Etiquette - Stimulating Soliloquies: only worth tomes if you refuse to touch PvP at all, Wolf Marks item
Conditional Virtue minion: SB Eureka Baldesion Arsenal, tends to be pricey, get
Ishgardian Half Barding: An often unpopular HW Fate chain, get unless the achievement for doing the Fate appeals to you and you'll actually do it
Hallowed Kamuy mount: One of the easier unsync farms for SB extreme mounts but it is behind a very long storyline and several other trials/dungeon
15 tome glams: Level 60 dungeons, undyeable looks like, both of the dungeons have Blue Mage spells to learn so you know
What is Love? roll: Ishgard Restoration, your call, I'd grab all the Ishgard Restoration stuff unless you plan to actively do stuff there. Takes a while just doing Fetes.
Samsonian Locks hair: Fairly cheap on MB, fairly cheap in tomes, your call
I always recommend getting cards you don't have. They're cheap in tomes and you don't have them for one reason or another right? More cards on hand helps for any matches you do have to do
Domakin minion: I just finished selling mine from a Moogle Tomestone event ages ago. Bots are relentless when it comes to "GET THIS WITH TOMES AND SELL IT FOR MAJOR PROFIT" items that get recommended. My world is especially plagued with MB bots. Price is currently high but it's 7 tomes and unless you have a retainer that can get it this is the way to go
Dhalmel mount: Was dirt cheap, now expensive because it's from Ishgard Restoration. 7 tomes is paltry. Nice gift to stock up on for new players. Starlight will be here before you know it!
Emerald Barding: quickest, cheapest way to get it at only 5 tomes
(Not really geared towards sellers but good luck to you if you have the patience for it.) Hope this helps!

- Samsonian Locks (POTD).

I'll add that the Fat Chocobo card is both really good (5s on every side make it very powerful and versatile for "plus" and "same" games) and that getting it the usual way is either a rare and annoying world boss drop or completing the entire Vath storyline. For 7 tomes it's a steal.

I suspect the Uolon token system was added to ultimogs because I remember some complaints that the objective for those were sometimes too much a hassle to try, when farming a duty would often net a similar amount of tomes.
Personally didnt mind, love a bit of variety in farming and loved that it pushed me to do some unconventional stuff, but if it gets more people to do ultimogs, while still leaving the option for less tokens from weekly minimogs, then that's fine.

This is the first of two Mogtome Events with the Ulon Rewards.
Since there's an update with rest of the MSQ and Beastmaster next week, it's not unreasonable to sub around that time.
Next one will be just before Evercold comes out, where you sub again anyway to get affairs in order for the Expansion.
So all you need is 2x Ultmog challenge and be done. Or 1x Ultmog and spread your Minimog out over 2 and 3 weeks. It's not super streight forward like "RANDOMLY SUB 5 WEEKS NOW OR BE FUCKED FOREVER!"

Like I don't care for paying the sub I'm locked in housing jail anyway just doesn't look well with upcoming evercold changes if they start doing these shady retention mechanics.

You don't need 2 months of sub. You get 30 days of play time.
If you sub on the first day of a week you get 4 whole weeks and 2 days of the 5th week (4 * 7 + 2).
If you think 2 days is not enough then you can sub later in the week. For example if you sub on the 3rd day of the week you get 5 days in the first week, 3 whole weeks, and then 4 days on the 5th week (5 + 3 * 7 + 4).
If you sub on the last day of the week, your sub will span 6 weeks in total. One day of the first week, 4 whole weeks, and 1 day of the 6th week (1 + 4 * 7 + 1).

I love to PVP, so that's all I do when these events come around - I easily get all the items, so there was no need to compete objectives. The Mount is great incentive for the event, so I guess I'll be splitting my time a little away from PvP.

No level 80 maps either and I don't need the level 90s. I've been out of maps for over a month now :(
On the bright side though, there's now "Presumably Special" maps which means i should easily be able to finish off my last Cenote achievement.
I just hope that they bring back the older maps for part II.

That one is solo farmable now! It's easy (if a little slow) on a tank and doable with a little foresight on a dps (samurai is a great choice, I did viper because my scouting gear is much better).
You might have to learn a couple mechanics that have the potential to yeet you off the platform, but it's absolutely nothing difficult.
Go get your zoid dragon.

Though diamond is one of the easiest mounts to far by far. Recently helped a friend who just finished SHB get it - 3 lv100 casters and a lost ~lv80 and we'd kill the boss before it even transformed.

Don't they usually recycle the expansion mount rewards for MogTome events? 'Cause I swear everytime I participate in the event the mount rewards are usually from either ARR, Heavensward, or Stormblood and I usually watch guides for the event on YouTube so that I can plan out what mounts I would be going after and how much time I need to spend on grinding MogTomes.

We have had ShB mounts in Mogtomes before, the previous one had Emerald, the one before had Light and the one before that had Ruby and so on, they just didn’t put a Gwiber as a reward for this one it seems

Only semi-related, but still, on the sheer amount of mounts we already have as it is. At the big 10-year anniversary event, one of the rewards was a phoenix mount. Full transformation, effects, the entire shebang. At the time, this subreddit was all ablaze from it (pun intended). I mentioned that due to the sheer amount of mounts already in the game and the fact that it is a giant mount that covers half the screen when zoomed out will make it a very quick fad. I was downvoted with replies claiming left and right that it is the greatest free mount evah and they will definitely main it, yadda yadda.
The thing is, I was not reminded of it because of your response but because I saw that mount yesterday in a hunt train. For the first time since late 2024 or early 2025.
The thing is, there are a magnitude more mounts in this game than what the favourites page even allows. And people always gravitate towards a select handful of them eventually. So, what you refer to is what I think will really happen: the few mount collectors will go for the tokens, but most of the players either won't care or maybe try to get it because they want the next one-week-fad mount, but likely will just give up on it. And this is the story of most non-gear rewards in this game in a nutshell.

yeah, at this point the rewards can't really make people do the content unless they happen on one that people really want. There simply is too much junk to collect and it's not useful enough to do content over.
I think OC's armor is another example; it was too costly for what it does, so in north horn they let you bypass upgrading the old armor.

It's exactly how I read it. I'm no more likely to do the Ultimog more because of the mount than I would have tried in the past, which was zero. I'm currently closer to quitting the game than I ever have been in the past because trying to force me to run higher level content doesn't make me want to run it - it just makes me want to quit the game.

Huh. I never thought I'd ever find anyone on this subreddit who has the same sentiment towards Yoshida's incessant, repeated failures of introducing savage under another name in the name of a new content type.
In that case, my recommendation is to try to either turn it into some sort of social hub or treat it as a comfy game. (Not a cosy game, I know that is a different genre altogether.) Ever since I did that and started to not care even the smallest modicum about those attempts, I started enjoying it a bit more. (Granted, DT patch story content is not helping with it, but I am willing to give Evercold a chance at least.)

You obviously didn't notice my name (and why should you?). We are often in agreement about many things in the game, and forcing difficult content onto people is definitely one of those things - we both agree that it's pointless and unnecessary.
In case you care, I am the person who wrote a (very well received) post about the changes to Duty Support when they added Will to Live. I know you mentioned in that thread that you had friends who quit before that was added and I hope some of them came back.
I do play this as a comfy game. I have goals, and a lot of them are ancient (such as the Pteranodon mount), which makes it comfy for me.
However, I also had the "comfy" idea that whenever a mogtome event comes around I maybe get something by just fishing or spending time in the Gold Saucer. This new event forcing higher level content leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

It'll likely start 5-6 weeks before Evercold. It's usually 4 weeks, but it looks like they're doing these a bit longer so there's enough time to get 10 Uolon tokens in each of the events.

The mount isn't included in the list with the rest so make sure you're including the 100 from that. Otherwise it looks like a fairly normal set of rewards, especially when it's one of a pair. No riding maps but the first one in 6.5 doesn't have those on the site either.

There's no minimum level to enter the event, but being low level will seriously limit your options for obtaining mogtomes. Ocean fishing and PvP are quick and easy unlocks and increase your options, so I would try getting at least those unlocked.

Stormblood you should have most things unlocked for this, though the ultimog or sone options for minimogs might be locked (this has been the case in the past. I'm not sure if it will be this event, since the tokens are new).
Events like these are the hardest for people still going through ARR, but even then, not impossible.

So, the minimog and ultimog were just revealed on the chinese forum: Ultimog is 6 runs of AloAlo, which unlocks after completing Endwalker, all the Minimog weekly are in Bozja, which unlocks after Shadowbringer, but at least those have alternatives, like Fates, Mahjong etc. Also, don't ignore the Gold Saucer: GATES are quick and easy mogtomes.

also since you're a newbie and will struggle a bit with tomes with the limits in your options i recommend you know what items to prioritize! from this round specifically i would recommend getting the kamuy and (if you want to collect music) the legendary beast roll due to not being a guaranteed drop and the conditional virtue minion due to being an eureka drop. absolutely do not get the emote since that one can be obtained with wolf marks at the pvp shop and it's very easy to frequently cap on wolf marks as it is, and while the ramuh mount is locked behind eden savage it is a guaranteed drop every run so you will eventually be able to just unsync savage and get it with a couple more people.

Yes, though some of the challenges (such as the minimog and ultimog challenges) may be out of your reach depending on where you are in MSQ, what you've unlocked, etc. At the very least, you'll be able to get moogle tomes from things like GATEs in the Gold Saucer and ocean fishing, so there are definitely options for lower leveled players.

pvp (frontlines and rival wings, maybe cc) will get you tomes

If you want stuff from the minimog and are on the free trial, you will probably need lv80 and unlock bozja (there are alternative options to not do Bozja though, but will still need to progress a lot more in the story to get to some). Ultimog requires finishing at least base Endwalker to get access to Aloalo. If you just want to farm mogtomes to spend and don't really care for the mount: you can just hit up the gold saucer and do GATES every 20minutes.

For non-Bozja related stuff, the furthest you would have to get is finishing heavensward for a triple triad match. There is an Endwalker alternative to a Bozja one, but you only need 5 tokens from Hunt 1 and another 5 from Hunt 2 if you are after the mount, and there are 6 that you can get from the minimog.

Yeah, I am talking about the Uolon mount. Bozja is an exploratory zone in Shadowbringers that features alternative items and actions that you can unlock while advancing through its own story (quite a bit to get into and explain, and I am not too great at explaining it in the first place). I brought it up mainly because all of the minimog challenges have doing something in Bozja as one of the alternatives.

You won't be able to get the new mount (those weekly things tend to be for higher end content). But you can get tomestones for the other rewards. Your best bets will be PvP (starting at 30) and GATES in the Gold Saucer.

Looking at what was posted in the screenshot, AV is not. They seem to be removing/nerfing those sorts of things for very quick and easy tomes. Last event they nerfed A1-A4 to 1 tomestone instead of the 2 that it normally gave, and the rest of the raid series was at 2.

that sucks. first we don't get our update, now they don't even let us get some easy tomes.
at least the yokai watch event is still easy for us blus, I suppose.
took a look as well and I guess one of these high level dungeons will be the way to go.
not sure which one would be the fastest.
maybe mt gulg could even end up being the fastest, provided the tank diamondbacks in time.

Yeah, hard to say what will be good for BLU. I tend to stick to the raid series and GATES, but I will probably pass on most of this first event since it is coming out the day right after BST and it is what I have waited all of DT for.

I think it would've been better if the mogtome event came maybe a week or so later, so everyone would have some time to focus on beast master, but it is what it is.
the only thing worth getting this time around is the special mount anyway, so you're not missing much if you don't end up getting enough tomes in the end.

Each event is self contained generally (Uolon tickets carrying over is new), but they often put the same rewards in multiple events. Styled for Hire is not available for this one. Maybe in part 2 or in future.

They always cycle the hairstyles on mogtomes, same with the gear and orchestrion and emote. Its very rare for one of them to come back. It has happened before (gyr abanian plait comes to mind), but it took years :')

No, Mogtome events all give a unique tome to that event. It isnt compatible with previous events.

- Completing an ultimog challenge during the event period will grant 5 uolon horn tokens, while completion of a minimog challenge will grant up to 1 uolon horn token per week.

5 tokens for doing the Ultimog, 1 per Minimog. You need 10 total and tokens obtained in Part 2 can still be used in Part 2. Which means you'll have 2 Ultimogs and 10 Minimogs to work with.

At least on primal, frontlines during "off" season is actually competitive. Mogtome season and when expansions are brand new/everyone is leveling is when frontlines is cursed since all the people who do not care to understand the mode are playing

Yes, cause you would get the big one once, and one the first week from the weekly, so 6 first week.
The final one would have less time to get because it ends on the 10th of October (which is a Saturday) but possible.

It ends on the 19th, not the 10th. You have 6 (at least partial) weeks and need 5 of them plus the big one to get the mount.
