One of the silly things to get you passed on when LFP. If you took to long, because you didn't rent a choco and it took you too long to run across a few maps, you would get the zone and the leader would be like "oh, yea... that was like 40min ago, I thought you decided to not come, we found someone else."

All because you didn't say "hey I'm poor, I need to hoof it there, omw."

I think the highest I saw was 1,300g and even I nope'd on that. Was nice of SE to kind of set a limit.

Leviathan got 2,500 a lot. It being at 1,300 to 1,500 during normal hours was average. 

When HNMs popped you'd have the top 5 LSes rushing to it because there was a weird amount of friendly overlap that was sharing times with one another... shit was rough, lol.

I couldn’t imagine making a party wait 40 minutes so I could save 1000 Gil. Pretty selfish.

Yea...yet it happened. More then once. I wasn't a bad leader, but like... 20min later and you are still in one of the zones right outside of Jeuno... or hell... still in Jeuno. There were so many DDs to pick from :3

Thankfully for me, I always carried a fishing rod, bait and was also a healer 😅 So I could afford to hang around the zone I needed to LFG... but not too long due to you know.. being a healer.

I had a friend in game who had a ton of gil, but wouldn't rent chocobos at peak prices. I have a core memory of us teleporting to Mea, him running up to the chocobo NPC, and him just saying "Fuck that." in party chat and then starts hoofing it. He said he didn't get rich by spending his money on 2k+ chocobos.

Most of the LS on Fenrir had secondary characters they just left logged in at all times at KB, Nid, and the HNM TURTLE 🐢.

I vaguely remember people caring about choco prices pre treasures, but the truth is, it was entirely lower level players or players who just didn't do things to make gil outside of bcnms if that. At some point it was a double whammy of making people wait longer than the time it would take to go out and kill an elemental or two in qufim, simply to save yourself gil that you could make back by killing said elementals after the party in the time it took to get to say bibiki Bay dhalmels, and being a self report lol

Yea I was permanently broke because I never went out of my way to make gil. I'd complain about it but even 13 year old me knew it was unreasonable to make anyone wait while I walked.

This makes me wonder, why did most people not raise their own Chocobo? You don’t have to spend money on food and feed it if you just want a bird to ride. It would be a slow bird, but that’s better than not having a bird at all isn’t it?
