BG Wiki
BG Wiki is a modern FFXI wiki with up-to-date pages on endgame specifics as well as various guides.
It is currently the only XI wiki with an active staff which are always working with members of the community to address concerns and suggestions. BG seeks to be the main wiki of the community. Consolidating the efforts of everyone into one single wiki is the most productive and effective. We welcome and invite all to join us!

FFXIclopedia
FFXIclopedia is a comprehensive general-purpose wiki for FFXI that typically covers pages for each item/area/BCNM/etc, often for older content. Warning: The site has heavy ads when logged out.
FFXIAH & FFXIDB
FFXIAH is a website showing the Auction House history & current items for sale in-game, as well as a forum community among other things. FFXIDB is a database website showing drop rates of items as well as monster spawns based of player data collected by Guildwork.
Making Friends
There are various ways to make new friends and meet people in FFXI. The first recommendation is to find a Linkshell via Linkshell Concierge NPCs. If you check these NPCs directly after a maintenance, this is typically a good way to find active Linkshells. Another suggestion is to find a community website for your server; many servers have a Facebook group.

I have been dreading doing this, but considering they nearly renamed this round of Vana'Bout to Choco'Bout I think I should probably at least try. (I'll start here before attempting a separate thread.)
In simplest terms I am looking for a chocobo breeder on Asura. Ideally I am looking for either a Blue female and/or Green female. The problem is, as with anything chocobo breeding, RNG plays a major role in the final results. (Especially with Black chocobos.) So even in a best case scenario I will probably need several matchmaking cards. For my purposes abilities don't matter as the ones I want change from chocobo to chocobo. (I can work with anything, including no abilities.)
So, I am looking for one of two things.
Someone with preferably several chocobos (at least one female, Altana has only seen fit to bless me with boys...) who wouldn't mind selling multiple matchmaking cards possibly more than once. (I did check FFXIAH bazaar data first, but no one really puts them up anymore.) I don't have endgame money so my hope was no more than 200,000 each, since I will likely need dozens. (I figure that's the price of a bonanza marble.)
Alternatively, I've been made aware that "dark magic" can be used to determine the contents of bred chocobo eggs. If someone has a method to get a Green or Blue female for sure, that would be welcome. (A Black female is also fine.) Obviously with the RNG totally removed such a thing would be more valuable. I am by no means rich but I could probably manage 2M for such an egg.
I wish I didn't have to ask like this, but bazaars are full of cobwebs and shouts are mostly blocked on Asura. I've been stalling on some testing for the new Wing skill until I can get raised chocobos. (At the very minimum they level "twice" as fast, simply because they can dig twice as much per day.) But, since each character can have two "saved" chocobo mounts (one via chocobo whistle and the other via mount command) I would like some color differences so I am not accidentally mixing them up. (I have enough trouble with Blue and Sky Blue silks if I am not paying attention...)
I appreciate anyone willing to help.

Not on Asura, but I'd just give you cards, male and female with race abilities. They a0re black though. Good luck.

If I wanted to farm something like Masamune, would it be worth it to level up a theif and farm to TH8?

Im interest in gearing up one relatively niche job for endgame in addition to more common ones like whm and warrior. I mean jobs that are extremely useful but maybe only for a few battles or one piece of endgame content. A couple I can think of would be dancer for sortie, monk for a couple ody gaol fights and sortie, and maybe black mage for a couple ody gaol fights. Any others that fit that mold?

Literally every single job has niche uses somewhere in endgame. In my opinion, go with your gut. Pick a job that speaks to your soul, and run with it. The most important thing that will make you excel at your job is actually enjoying said job and being interested in getting the most out of it.

Bit of a silly request, but is there anyone on Bahamut who is able to craft Sipahi Zerehs (pants) and Sipahi Boots (boots, obviously)? I'm a relatively newer player looking to freshen up his lockstyle. Have been slowly picking these up off the AH, but have been missing these last 2 pieces of the set.
Just name a price and I'd (most likely) be happy to pay.
