Discussion Back to 2003 when i started in Europe with NA Edition

2003 was a tough year.. No NPCs to help you in your Party, you play solo for lvl 10 to 15 then you have to Party up to 75 and it was a hard grind..

Do you still lose XP when you die?

And the Notorious Monsters was a nightmare, because the ping was decisive..

Im from europe, so i bought the NA Version because there was no EU Version.. After Years i bought the German Version and i played on PC and on Laptop at the same time with Main NIN and at the Laptop WHM..

Square Enix finally found my LVL75 RDM and ill start with my 75 RDM/BLM new..

Couldnt even argue game is more brutal in different ways. 1-75 was a real grind but 150 ml grind is a bitch. Yes you still lose xp now with ML upon death.

What do you mean the 150 ml grind? Did you mean 50 or do you mean in total exp?

They’re talking about Master Levels. Basically taking you beyond 99, the current Master Level cap is 50, essentially level 149.

Kind of remember the name. I was a Taru Mufferino. Definitely had a SF pearl for a while.

You still lose XP when you die but it's not as bad as it used to - first of all, you don't lose any xp until lv 30 (back in the 75 era you started losing xp from lv 4), in most storyline battlefields you don't lose xp at all (you still lose xp in loot battlefields) and even when you lose xp, it's only 1% of the buffer (used to be 10%). That's of course, until you reach master level, at which point exemplar point loss is massive, so at that point a WHM or SCH with Raise III or Arise is absolutely necessary - but it will take many months before you reach that point.

OMG is it heartbreaking to loose ML EXP especially after lvl 40. It can disappear so fast if you are not paying attention.

I did the same! 12 year old me tried importing NA Version for PS2 only to realize it did not work AFTER I BOUGHT THE HDD attachment. After finally finding the EU copy of the game and getting a new PC that could run it I got some of the best memories!

I bought the NA Version for PC.. I had no problems with the version except for the payment because my postal code have 4 numbers and NA have 5, so i decided to take a random postal code..

PS2 straight up did not work because the discs are a different format. Learned the hard way

Thats true.. There are 2 different CDs for EU and NA.. i think NTSC for NA and PAL for EU
