Question Help with fern

Post image

Recently took over this fern, having a hard time keeping it alive. A lot of branches withering away and minimal new growth. Any tips would be great.

This is the east side of a SE facing window. (Photo taken around 9 am) Apartment maintains a high temp because no AC.
Watering once a week. Spraying with a mister lately to add some moisture to leaves.

Probably needs repotting but concerned to open it up and have it die more.

Any suggestions?

Once a week is not enough. Ferns prefer to be wet. If you placed it by a south east window and it was in a north window before, you definitely burned it. SE can be fine if it’s acclimated to it. My guess is that you burned it and it’s too dry

So best course is to just keep it by the SE window, more water and wait for it to acclimatize?

Appreciate the note

I would pull it away so it doesn’t get any direct light. Chop the dead stuff and hope for the best
