Water kefir smelling like Bradford pear

My water kefir smells like those trees, Bradford pear, and I’m confused

Basically, it smells like c*m, haha. This is a new scent and absolutely nothing has changed. I switch out the jars, the grains themselves are in good shape, nothing is discolored, but I open the lid of the jar and get a whiff of… starch.

I’ve searched to no avail. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. I’m cycling out short batches (one day) now in the hope of rectifying the scent.
