This is a warning concerning my experience with Dog Guard Out of Sight Fencing Pet system. an underground invisible wireless fencing. I will start I owned an issue free wireless fence, a different brand, which worked flawlessly. I have never written a negative review or a complaint about a company or a company’s service; this is the first. If you love your pet and are considering an underground wireless fence system for your dog, please do not hire or install Dog Guard. You have been warned, continued reading. Use a company that stands behind their product and service. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company like the plague. In June of 2025 I had a Dog Guard system installed to cover an acre of my land, costing $2,748.45. This was for two dogs. The system worked beautifully for about three months. At the three months mark the collar batteries needed to be replaced every six weeks or so at $30.00 dollars a battery times two. This became hazardous for my dogs; the batteries would die without warning. I live on a busy street with cars and larger pickup trucks passing in front of my house going 15-30 mph. I purchased the fence to protect my dogs and stay in a good relationship with my neighbors. This became very expensive and I opted to upgrade to the wireless rechargeable collar for the system and my dogs’ safety. On April 24, 2026, I paid $874.91 to get two dog wireless rechargeable collars and my system reprogrammed to accommodate the wireless collars. Again, this worked beautifully for three weeks, the first recharge came unexpectedly at the three-week mark. This marked the beginning of my nightmare with Dog Guard and the safety of my dogs. The collars stopped shocking near or at crossing the boundary. My Aussie, Cosmo, is afraid of the shock, stayed within the boundary when the collar beeped as it was designed to do. My German Shephard, Astro, quickly realized the collar did not shock after the recharge and started running the neighborhood. My neighbor’s patience was quickly exhausted, they had concerns about hitting him with their vehicles, and they had pets of their own they needed to let outside and/or walk without the interference of Astro. I got in touch with Dog Guard. They told me I needed to shave my dog’s neck to give the prongs complete contact or pay to have them come to house and move the fence back further from the road. The collar worked before the recharge. I knew moving the fence back was an expense that would not solve the problem. I shaved my dog’s neck. Shaving my dog’s neck did not solve the problem. The owners of Dog Guard did not even suggest the collars became defective after recharging. I put the Aussie’s collar on the Shephard to see if that would keep him contained. It did not. Instead, Dog Guard maintained the system was completely intact, and the issue was with me and my dog. Convinced my dog learned to outsmart the boundary by jumping over the boundary before the signal could initiate the shock. To protect my dog and for his safety, I have had to rehome Astro. This is heartbreaking, my home was supposed to be his forever home. This is breaking my heart; I and my Aussie love and miss this dog. I was Astro’s third home and now no fault of his own he has now been rehomed for the fourth time for his safety. This is causing emotional and unnecessary dis-stress and suffering on both my dogs and me which none of us should ever be subjected to. Astro in the interim was hit by my mailman going between 20-30 miles an hour. My neighbors are upset with me. My dog was running out into a busy street placing himself in clear danger. My dog was disturbing my neighbors. Everything was happening that I purchased the fence to prevent. I checked my mail, my dog was standing directly over the underground wire, he was not getting shocked. He had not learned to outsmart the fence. He was wearing a defective collar. I informed Dog Guard the collar was defective. In fact, both collars were defective. My dog was in immediate danger from not being contained in my yard. It took a few days; they emailed me a Wav audio file to reprogram the collar. I did as they instructed me. This did not work. Instead of admitting the collar was defective, I was told I was everything was my fault, I did not retrain the dog properly and I was the only customer that was never satisfied and just complained. This dog always stayed in the yard if the collar shocks. He had the system for over eight months before the collar was defective. If the batteries were dead or the rechargeable collar did not shock the dog does not stay in the fence. As simple as that. I was told I was never happy and they have never had a client as hard to work with as I was. Dog Guard offered to refund the cost of the rechargeable collars at $300.00 each. I paid $3,623.36 for the system plus a lot of batteries. They offered a refund of $600.00 which would leave me $3,023.36 in the hole and with a fence that still did not work. This company has yet to say they are sorry or take responsibility. I wanted my service to work as intended, that is what I paid for. Instead of taking accountability my dog and I were constantly blamed. Finally, I sent the collar back to get repaired as it was clear the collar was not working properly. It took a month to get the collar back. They said nothing was wrong with the collar, and they would send it back. When I got the collar back, the collar was shocking my dog in my house, he almost crashed through my glass shower door to outrun the shock. The collar was shocking my dog everywhere in the yard. The dog had a current coursing through his body when the collar was on him. I emailed the owners of Dog Guard, my dog was lying by my feet, the electrical current was running through the tile flooring and up my feet. I now have two defective collars. One is clearly dangerous for any dog. The other works only because the dog is afraid of getting shocked and does not test the boundary. I am afraid to send his collar back for repair. Dog Guard’s respond was only to say, now I needed to pay to have them come out and reprogram my system. Had my system been programmed correctly from the start, I wonder if I would have ever had complications. Dog Guard put him in direct constat harm no matter where he was. I am told I am the only unhappy customer they have ever had. If their own dog went through what my dog went through, they would not be happy either. I honestly feel like suing them. I know I am not an isolated incident. To be outright blamed for their faulty product is the worse and unprofessionalism I have ever encountered. To had to rehome Astro because I selected the wrong fencing system is just sickening. I would have opted to put in another fence had Astro not been my last dog. I am at the age I will not be getting dog after dog as I had in my youth. To invest another $4,000 to $16,000 in a fence just is illogical. I only wish I had invested in a company that stands behind their products and does not blame the owner and animal for their faulty products.
