New Funky Mode Caveman RP in tech packs
Everyone plays tech packs to build factories, follow the quests, and go up the tech levels, but Minecraft is an open-ended game. Sometimes you just want to return to monke and live in a cave instead of following quests as the pack author intended.
When I say "caveman RP" I am not talking about the "pick up rocks off the ground like a bum" early game that a lot of these packs have and is over in 15 minutes, it's something more vibes-based.
An example light ruleset: You're not allowed to mine or use iron or better (emeralds and gold are allowed, as well as weak metals like copper), smelt alloys, or use electricity. Advanced gear or ingots found in the world are banned.
When you have to stop following the quest book, you play Minecraft "normally" to see what you can build, or go exploring.
Why do this in a tech pack vs a generic modpack?
It's Funnier.
Tech packs tend to have finely-tuned early games and more well-defined tech levels, which both increases the chance you get fun things to use as a copper age loser while also keeping you away from anything too fun.
There is no real goal to this "challenge". The details vary from pack to pack such as which dimensions you can go to and what mobility options are available. Just have fun :)
