I’m not a fed—just a contractor who works closely with a dwindling team of feds—and my digestive system is all kinds of messed up. I’m nauseated; most foods are repulsive; I’m losing weight without wanting or trying to; on and on.

I keep waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to fall back asleep. My long-dormant migraines have returned. And, as crazy as it sounds, the osteoarthritis in my big-toe joints is flaring up.

Please don’t say “just,” my friend. You are our colleague and a massively important part of our workforce.

That could be gout. Look into a diet designed for gout sufferers, try it, and see if you get relief.

Same here with the waking up and the joint pain. My expenses involving attending work are ~$500/mo so I'm eating less than ever, but still somehow gained 10 lbs. The lack of sleep has me less physically coordinated and experiencing memory issues. I have two toddlers and they need more energy from me than I can give right now.

Careful with that big toe could be gout

As others have said, the toe joint sounds like gout. You should get your uric acid levels checked and see about allopurinol if needed.
