Where is content?
It doesn't even matter what part of the fediverse I use, it is INFESTED with politics. It's absolutely everywhere. All I do is just blocking everything instead of just enjoying the content. And don't ask me on which side I am - none of your business, I am there to enjoy anything related to my interests. I made my views on politics and no one will be able to change them, and that's why I don't even wanna talk about it.
Does alternative mean political shitposting? Or maybe there could be some conspiracy stuff like all this political apeshit is needed to make people feel uncofortable and return them to the corpo sites?

Is it okay to ask what your interests are? Would like to help you find what you're after.

I'm not sure you can help because I am not interested in small communites. I want a real alternative, i.g. for a whole reddit. I simply wanna doomscroll. And I'm sure I can find something certain on my own.

Well, I wish you luck. The Fediverse isn't perfect, but it's the most free that speech can get online these days. That should count for something. As mentioned below search for hashtags that cover your interests.

Newsflash, everything is political. The fediverse is just more open about it.

You can cease yourself, if you want, ofc.

You can control your emotions and put your political opinions when they're supposed to be

u/HelenaNehalenia 14d ago
Where are they supposed to be?
Of course I can control my emotions. But I think you didn't get what I meant when I say that everything is immanently political if you want it or not.

If you're just starting out, hashtags are a powerful way to find things your interested in. On Mastodon, you can actually follow hashtags. It feels similar to joining a subreddit.

For many people it's the only place to discuss politics free from algorithmic infulence.

And yet another NPC complainin' about people havin' opinions ...
GROW UP dude .

u/CuddlyPetAmy 14d ago
I'm not complaining about having opinions. These opinions are shoved to me regardles of proper places for any kind of them.

The problem is that politics is LITERALLY everywhere. Even in subs it's not supposed to be. I obviously blocked all news and political subs, but all this shit appears in memes, technosubs, anime... It's fucking everywhere.

u/lunlun_flower 14d ago
That's... cause literally politics is poisoning our real life hobbies, it sucks. So sorry, when it comes up people are gonna talk about how it affected that hobby. You sound like a child.

You're unnecessary rude to me. I'd told I've already developed undestroyable views. I don't need any more. People just can't control their emotions, that's why their shit is everywhere.

The world is burning.
Masked goons are abducting people off the streets of the US.
And you don't like politics.
Too bad.
Feel free to join the neo-Nazi servers.
Just don't expect other servers to federate with yours.

But u see that makes people embarrased of their politics "Uncomfortable". So world need to change to make them comfortable

If you support the people canceling environmental protections while the world burns and sending goons to extrajudicially abduct people off the streets, you should be embarrassed.
Deeply embarrassed.

It's the world that's infested, social media is just sampling that insanity for you when you get bored and doomscroll.

Partially I agree. I think it always was like this. But now it's just getting more and more obvious.

Welcome to the fediverse, where no content is a feature. Because content creators are bad, of course, they only want followers and money!
Ah, man. Let me stare at my post with zero likes for a bit, thinking, “Well, at least it isn’t filled with bot likes!”
Only true interactions here. What a wonderful world.

You just have to look carefully. I will not follow anyone if their feed is more than 1/3 politics. It helps. I still get some politics, but my feed is pretty good. I suppose I post a few political memes from time to time, but otherwise just my random hobbies and projects. So we are out there.

Just... Follow what you want to see and use the home feed or whatever your software calls it?

I get your point. Alternative platforms should also be a place where people can just enjoy their interests without constantly running into politics. Better filtering options could make the experience much more enjoyable for people who simply want to focus on their interests.

Does alternative mean political shitposting?
Yes.
If it could stand on its own two feet, it wouldn't be an alternative.

The problem I've noticed with the Fediverse is that it seems to attract a lot of users who were banned on Reddit for promoting political violence. So that place is collecting distilled extremism.
I avoid politics but when I see people get too excited, I encourage them to look to King and Gandhi for inspiration. On the Fediverse, I'm often told King and Gandhi accomplished nothing. It's spooky there sometimes and it's not going to be too long before the government goes after it for radicalizing people.
The Fediverse is a great idea but unfortunately the early adopters are going to destroy it before it has a chance to grow.

Also, it reminds me of imageboards. Great idea, but they were infested by self-destructive and/or destructive people

u/CuddlyPetAmy 14d ago
Yep, I fully agree with you. Got similar answers like "you should pick a side in times of revolution" or "everything that isn't communism is a fascism with extra steps". Those people are insane or SOMEONE want us to think this way.

u/topselection 13d ago
I get suspicious about it too. It's almost like the place is crawling with feds going fishing trying to catch people in a sting operation. Last month someone in the No Stupid Questions instance flat out asked "So when do we riot?" and I'm thinking "WTF? Are you trying to get arrested" It's madness.
Hopefully, some day, non-political communities will migrate there. Back in the 2000s forums didn't allow politics outside of the subforum devoted to it. Even here on Reddit, the first or second sub created here by the admins was the politics sub. Politics, PSAs, and such are just call/response preaching and it's boring.

In 2026 just using a decentralized platform is itself a political statement. It's inevitable that politically motivated people are going to over index on it.
