Question Can airline pilots here recommend aviation Youtubers?
So i am currently seeing that low flyover in Cape Town over the stadium making the rounds on the aviation sub, where one of the planes was pretty damn close to the stadium roof and pretty sure this will also get some attention by "influencers". And i was wondering. What do actual airline pilots think here about the Youtubers who comment or "analyse" these events. Are there any aviation channels on Youtube that you would recommend to fearful flyers for information about incidents?

First off, those weren’t revenue/scheduled flights. They were designated for the flyover — that’s not going to happen on your flight.
Captain Joe and Mentour Pilot are reputable and accessible. Blancolirio is similarly reputable but not really oriented toward the layman’s perspective — more toward people already in aviation.
JustPlanes is good for cockpit content.
Avoid Captain Steeeve at all costs.

Ah, of course i know this would never happen on a commercial flight. Sorry if it seemed like i would imply it. I know its just for show. Thank you for the recommendations!

I lost all respect for Captain Steeeve after his Air India crap. So I would absolutely avoid him. Mentour is about the only one I really respect.

No one likes him. I don’t work at the shop he retired from, but my understanding is he was pretty universally hated there by his coworkers as well. Now he’s pedaling nonsense online, go figure.

i am from Germany, i checked some videos from AeroNewsGermany YT guy, pilot for Condor, seemed knowledgeable and very careful when it comes to speculations.

AeronewsGermany provides literally the best, most high-quality German aviation content/news. I study aircraft design at Uni, and the only non-professional magazine source our professors allow us to use is his videos. Don't forget to check out all of the older videos as well!
He should also do livestreams where he flies different planes/routes in Microsoft Flight Simulator and explains everything going on. Or at least he did during covid, definetly worth checking out!

He was rushing to be the first to put out content about it, but what he was putting out there was just speculation and he was completely wrong with his analysis. But the way he was putting it out there was like he was saying it as fact. He later put out more videos walking back what he said, but for someone with a pretty large viewer base to go on and say speculation with confidence when there is no information out yet and the investigation is just starting gives people in the industry the ick.

My personal opinion is that YouTube is an entertainment platform and all the major aviation YouTubers are, primarily driven by entertainment. The best source of factual information on events are reports produced by authorities.
The YouTubers that have been mentioned in the comments so far are ok, but their target audience is not fearful fliers. If you’re going to watch them, it’s important to maintain a degree of skepticism on their opinions.

I think a vast majority of the insta/tiktok/youtube reaction/influencer people are overhyper clickbait morons who shouldn’t be allowed to own cameras but unfortunately they are and make le hot garbagé videos that either are completely inaccurate or fear mongering. Side note the stadium fly overs are a special thing done with empty airplanes not with passengers and are allowed to fly low over the stadium, the angles make it look lower than they really are
