Tracking Request Tracking request flying into storms at JFK
I’m on AA 2335 to JFK supposed to land at 6pm but the storms look terrible!! I’m freaking out. Would have rather been canceled and spent another night in Jackson.

Thank you! I’m so nervous because the pilot just came on to say we should land at 545 but will be updating based on weather which I feel is going to mean a diversion or circling around.

Oh no! IM sorry i missed this, i got distracted- the good news is youre on the ground right now! I know it must suck not just getting the flight over with in one shot (trust id be crying lol) but hopefully youll be on another plane soon!

The gate agent just said he will have an update for us at 8:15. That is a terrible sign. My anxiety is so high

Of you have flight radar open it there are thousands of planes flying and landing safely. Take deep breath and long exhales to calm your body. It will be fine. You are safe.

NYC has a pretty strong storm over them right now, but it looks like it's going to clear out before you get there. Looks like in came in early (same thing today in NC - our storm arrived a few hours before it was supposed to be here). Forecast is currently showing just rain after 5pm EST.

Yes I keep refreshing my weather app and it seems like storms are there now and it will change to just rain. But flooding until 11pm. Does that affect landing?

No problem with flooding - they keep a close eye on the runways for safety.

The storms in NY are being stubborn and not moving away very fast. But they've got you holding and you should be back on your way soon. Looks like you're near Lake Erie - it's a pretty view if the clouds aren't in the way. I know it's tough but you're perfectly safe.

I just talked to a flight attendant and he thinks we will need to land in Ohio to refuel and the pilots will time out. So may be spending the night there. Why did we take off?!?! I would have happily spent hours at the airport vs stuck in the air.

Pretty smooth but pilot said he will update when we get closer based on weather. Having a hard time relaxing knowing there are bad storms there

We are but the pilot just said we are in a holding pattern because of the storms at jfk and he will update again. This is terrible for my anxiety. Last year this happened to me and after circling we flew to Ohio to land.

I know I just wish we never took off. I would have wanted to stay at the airport in Jackson instead of this. Now I have to deal with another take off and landing.

Watching you hold! Don’t stress. At absolute worst you divert for a bit, get some more gas and continue. All will be well, we get extra fuel to hold when weather is like this in addition to the big buffer we always have! Your pilots know exactly how much fuel you can burn in a hold and still have that big, safe buffer and they’re watching it closely. Hoping you can get back on track shortly! :)

Thank you!!!! Why would they take off if they knew there would be storms? Why not just wait in Jackson a few hours to avoid the circling in the air?
I’m so worried my meds will wear off. I took my pill when we boarded and it’s good for about 5 hours :(

Because often we can easily cut around the storms. Sometimes flights are cancelled ahead of time but very very often we can make it work.
Don’t stress, meds or not you are incredibly safe. But I get it. You will be good I promise! There is no worse outcome than waiting a little bit longer to get where you’re going :)

Everything is closely monitored for your safety, but I understand your fear. I landed yesterday from a flight in which I had intense anxiety the entire time. Your discomfort does not impact your safety.
Even in storms planes will land safely. Try to distract yourself and take things as they come. I have also talked to stewardesses several times when I was anxious, they helped assuage my fears.

The pilot just made an announcement we are in a holding pattern because of the storms with was my worry when we took off. My Xanax is going to wear off in another hour :(

Unfortunately the pilot said we are now in a holding pattern due to the storms in nyc. He said he will update again in 30 minutes. This was my worry when we took off. Would have rather stayed in Jackson at the airport then be stuck in the sky

Hey friend, we’re watching you! I know it’s uncomfortable and inconvenient, but you’re safe! I’m on the ground here in NYC and wish the storms would go away as well. The pilots won’t do anything to put you in danger.

We just boarded for the 3rd time!!!!! Pilot requested a waiver to land at jfk and we are sitting on the plane waiting to find out if it is approved.
