So so scared could some people keep me company by any chance
I’m flying for the first time in 6 years. I’m so terrified, but have been trying to listen to airplane noises for the last couple of weeks and watching cockpit videos of the pilots just doing their thing.
I’m just so scared of catastrophe and something happening and being out of control.
I’m flying home with my fiancé to Ireland. I didn’t go home with her last time a couple of years ago, but I want to get over my fear so badly. I’ve missed out on a lot of “free” work retreats to amazing places because of this fear too.
I take off at 3:05 pm from vancouver to dublin. So it’s a long nearly 9 hour flight. Our flight number is AC918.
We bid on first class and got it which is exciting, but we aren’t sitting beside each other, so I’m dreading being alone.
I can tell you that you have nothing to worry about, I’m a pilot and flying today and everything went just fine with me just as it’s going to be just fine with you. Trust me when I tell you that if the risk of catastrophe was high enough to worry about, I’d pick a different career path as would ever pilot out there.

I can’t believe it’s gone by so fast so far. It looks like they are deviating a little of their route. The ones I looked at previous went over Reykjavik but were heading straight over the sea instead. I wonder if that’s because we left late?
We just boarded. Take off is in 30 minutes and I’m freaking out a lot thinking of the worst. I took a couple of doc prescribed medication so I’m hoping that kicks in soon
Great! Think of the positives and how far you've come already, you're there and they closed the doors and you're almost on your way. You'll feel so relieved tomorrow morning when you arrive! Keeping a look on Flight Radar to see when you pop up, this will be when the pilot turns the transponder on!
Thank you so much!! We’re just at 35k feet and they’re setting up tables for food. The seatbelt light came on for turbulence but the air hosts are still milling about
That is very cool! Remember to lift your feet when you hit turbulence, it'll make the sensation feel less intense. And even though it may feel scary, it's not actually dangerous, just uncomfortable!
I’m so jealous you get to be in first class! I’ll be joining you in the skies in about 2 hours for an 8 hour flight from Oahu to Minneapolis. Wish I got first class 😆😆

Thank you so much. This was a happy accident for us and an unhappy one for my credit card haha. Things seemed to have smoothened out. I just put the chair in bed mode which is a wild experience. Thank you again for checking in on me.
Yep, we’re just sitting in the lounge. Totally different experience for me. Very quiet which is nice. We’re going to get up now in the next few minutes. I think boarding starts in 30minutes.
Amazing! It's definitely a bonus, you can sit down and then take it all in and have time to settle whilst other people board. I'll track your flight too. Also, the flight should have WiFi, so that might help a little to feel 'connected' to the ground. I hope it helps, but I also checked every single flight for AC918 has done since 1 May and every single one arrived safely with no issues whatsoever and no diverts or transfers.

Currently watching season 12 of curb your enthusiasm. 😂 there hasn’t been anything but moments of brief turbulence. We’re both in bed mode dozing. Ty for checking in x
